Jones would have easily outboxed the one dimmensional Pacquiao. He's never fought someone with that type of pure boxing skill before.
Jones was a standup 1-2 fighter, Jones had no creativity to his game really. Jones was as much the one dimensional fighter as Pacquiao, if not more so. Plus Jones had no stamina or chin. Not to mention Pacquiao fought at a higher weight and was much stronger. Jones was never in Pacquiao's league as far as fighters are concerned.

Poison Jones was a really good fighter back in his day. Very good skills, a slick style, and a good puncher. He was pretty underrated...his chin was his undoing in the big fights that he lost.

Back in the day Jones would have a real shot at beating Pacquiao. I don't think he'd even last 5 rounds if they fougth now. Pacquiao's left is too quick down the middle for Jones to avoid it enough...not to mention Pacquiao does a good job of letting off quick, hard shots on the inside.

Jones is one of those borderline HOF guys though in my opinion. He beat Barrera twice, as well as Tom Johnson, Tracy Patterson and Orlando Canizales (although the last three were well past their best days). He also was very competitive with Kennedy McKinney until he ran out of gas and started getting tagged too much and he beat Jorge Julio in the prime of his career. The guy was a 2 world titlist...winning championships at 118 and 122 (and picking up some trinkets at 126/130). Hell...he was beating Paul Ingle (I believe) before he was stopped.

Anywho, I don't think he lives with Pacquiaos activity or speed at this point.

Ingle v. Jones was a closet classic!

I think calling him a 1-2 stiff may be a little severe. Jones relied on the right hand a bit too much sometimes, but he had a pretty good right hand. Tommy Brooks had him giving his opponents new looks and that's really the reason he had so much success against Barrera.

This comeback will not end well. Even at his best, Jones chin and stamina were weak. Now you add age and inactivity. I almost feel sorry for Jones

Jones was very dangerous in the first 6 rounds. He loved to slugg it out in the early rounds that i recall. Very dangerous right hand.

Take away his jab and he was just a whole lot of target.
