fighters from the past had it much rougher than fighters today. they'd usually fight once maybe even twice a month. and they werent babied, they werent greedy. they slogged the hard road all their life and they werent fighting just so they could get a pimped out ride with spinners and covered in bling bling. they had a greater desire to win because they needed to put ****ing food on the table to feed their families and to pay the rent to keep the ****ing roof over their heads.

back then fighters actually wanted a shot at THE TITLE, back in the day when there was only one title per division, and there were only 8 divisions. but today, we have 17 divisions with four major titles per division. thats ****ing 68 MAJOR TITLES IN BOXING TODAY. now titles come along as sort of a perk, a bonus. the main goal of ALL fighters today is to get "the big payday". its disgusting.

fighters today have no respect for others, they love only themselves. we have fighters like floyd mayweather, james toney, fraudley harrison, zab judah, and ricardo mayorga who talk better than they fight and disgrace the sport (its now a business) of boxing with their lack of respect and discipline.

boxing's no longer a sport, its a business. back when we had athletes fighting for the title and not businessmen fighting for big paydays.

muhammad ali would **** the **** out of lennox lewis.
sugar ray robinson would beat phony calzone within an inch of his life.
henry armstrong would destroy jose luis castillo and diego corrales on the same night.
sandy saddler would decimate manny pacquiao without even breaking a sweat.

fighters back then were fighters. boxers today are businessmen.

        Dempsey vs. RJJ Comparison

        Strength - Dempsey
        Power - Dempsey
        Speed - RJJ
Skill - Draw, I could even argue it for Dempsey.
        Competition fought - Dempsey
        Heart - Dempsey
        Chin - Dempsey
        Stamina - Dempsey
        Killer Instinct - Dempsey

I could keep going, but I don't have to. Dempsey knocks him out.

you made a list of fighters who fight better than they talk.

I argue that mayweather does not belong, since charisma and rethoric are far below his fistic abilities.

he is unbeaten in the ring, but he says mostly things that piss ppl off whenever he opens his mouth.

          dont you agree?

The funniest thing about this argument is that most of the people who are arguing for the old time fighters have never seen anything more than a couple fights of terrible video footage, if that. There really is no point in comparing the different generations because there isn't any common ground to make a rational decision. But just to keep the arguement going, the fighters today would make easy work of the fighters from the distant past.

not to mention rjj best weight was 168... and dempsey would be a bigger man than he actually was in the 20s, given today's training methods

I think you forgot quickness, defense ,reflexes, and athletic ability all of which go to Roy sounded good tho, and Im sure you could argue skill but I could also argue that my **** is bigger than an elephants but we would both be wrong. I dont recall seeing Roy anywhere near winded BEFORE dropping back down to 175 so stamina I dont think would be an issue

Wlad and Valuev would UD Marciano no problem, and yes Ive seen plenty of footage. He would probably be cruiserweight champion, but I think even at a cut 215 pounds his style wouldnt be effective at heavyweight. Im not trying to bash the guy, its just the size will be too hard to overcome.

Lewis is far to big and strong for Dempsey. It is the heavyweight division of today that has the most problems when comparing it to the past. For example, it wouldn't have taken Frank Bruno four shots at the title if he was around now rather than then!

I'm sorry, but I would have to agree with Kid Achilles on this one. Lennox is big, but he has a bad chin and is much slower than Dempsey. Dempsey's punches would have more of an effect on Lewis than Lewis' punches would on Dempsey. I would say Jack wins in under 8 rounds.
