Im looking at the Hopkins v. Taylor fight on hbo replay. And seeing Hopkins fight reminded me of what im saying in this post and in this thread. See back when Hopkin was Champion during the Mercado fights after and a little before. I used catch any Hopkins fight i could, Hopkins impressed me even in his lose to Mercado. I keep an eye on him, and because he was hardly on tv, it was tough for me to catch his fights. Then on TNF, he was going to make an apperance against Bo James. I felt he let me down, cause he looked like ****, after i was highly anticapating his fight on TNF. After that I didn't care much about his fighting style but still followed him and catch his fights when i could. Not, till the Echols fight is when i was again, a Hopkins fan, he showed a lot of heart. But still i didn't see any of the technical fighter people call him. I would laugh at how people say Hopkins was this technical fighter. Cause to me, in my eyes, he boxes like ****, and by that i mean dog ****. Then I think it was after repeatedly hearing about his fight with Howard Eastman, i decided to take another look at this fight, i thought damn, its going to be another boring ****en fight to see again. But, this time i seen what people were saying about his technique or how wise he is by boxing or how he save his energy for later rounds. Now i see it. But before, i thought there was nothing technical about him cause i never studied his fights, unless they were action fights. See in a way, the way i thought many people were crazy and blinded of how they described Hopkins style or his brillence, is now how many of you are saying im blined and crazy. And its a FACT, that it took many years for people to really take a look at Hopkins and what he brought to the table. And imo, if anybody thought that Hopkins was as good as he was/is -back then-, it was Don King... who always knew how good Hopkins was. Cause as far back as i can remember, King has always wanted ownership of Bernard Hopkins. Again, this is soley my opinion.

No I'm not going to lie to a bunch of people on the internet. No I don't watch fights twice unless they are really close (Taylor-Wright) or if they just happen to be on again. I have a life and don't devote all my free time to boxing.
And anyone who really thinks they watch every single fight twice that they have opinions on is a liar. You can't tell me you watched Briggs-Lyakahovich twice and expect me to believe it.
Damn, you don't have to insult everybody like that. That Briggs fight ****** culo, i still haven't seen the whole complete fight, but the ko was baddass. And if we're being honest, i still havn't seen the whole Diaz fight either that was on the undercard. But, me personally back then i used to watch every top fight more then twice, i used to study fight a lot back then when i used to box. And its not difficult to belive other people do the same. Its called the sweet science cause, imo, some one took the time to study the fights and conjured up the term, the "sweet science."Comment

fair arguement and point.......But either way given the rules and state of the sport how else could they do it?I mean we all argue about the **** all the time but the actual judge has to score it from what he watched live in front of him or her.........the only answer to solve the problem for good would be making at least title fights 15 rounds again because it should be about staying strong throughout the entire fight and showing in the late rounds you are the one that wants it more..........I mean ya you do have to score each round but like with B-Hop and Taylor 1 the first 8 rounds or so really were not clearly won by either guy but Taylor won most of them because he was busier or whatever........anyway when you have 8 rounds that were very close and a fighter steps up in the last 3 or 4 rounds and completely dominates the other fighter and cleary takes the round, that should count for something too.........I.E. Hopkins would have stopped Taylor no doubt had it been a 13,14 or 15 round fight.Anyway not to bring that up again but simply put The fighter that clearly appears he could go another few rounds come the end of the fight is really usually the guy who would pull it out if there were another rounds.........also I think 10-10 rounds are not used enough too.Anyway I am ****faced but think some people will understand what I mean.Watching the fight 10 times and seeing **** u missed the 1st time around will not change the outcome of the fight unless all you want to do is argue.People not willing to go back and look at fights.
Seriously, so many people want to argue about their take on a fight but are unwilling to go back and watch it again.
There were people on here today who didn't even know Quartey knocked Oscar down in their fight, yet you always have people debating who won that one. People are always saying, "I think I scored it like..." or something along those lines, unwilling to go back and watch the fight (sometimes in slow motion) and back themselves up.
I say if you want to argue about it, you better be willing and able to access the fight and back up your points.
And by the way, you know you're good at scoring fights when you can score it, then watch it in slow motion and end up with the same score you had before. I know, very few people have time to watch parts of a fight in slow motion, but it reveals a lot more than you'd think.Comment

Does anyone take your ass seriously? Do you even watch boxing? By that analysis I must conclude you are joking right? Tell me something though dude, I read somewhere on here that you are a straight up mutha ****in *****. Are you really? Waddup G!!! Holla!!!Hey man, who do you think was better, Vanilla Ice or Marky Mark? You got to give them credit though coz they led the movement of *****mania and is the main reason you've got homeboys today to emulate Jay-Z with. Its a shame that most of you dudes crossed over and turned on your back on the O.Gs though. Hey man, you never know, Eminem has crossed over and maybe someday the brothas will take you seriously too. I Never really kicked it with *****s before but am quite interested in the psychology or *****ness. Let me try to relate with you through the magic of ebonics for a minute so you can feel what I'm sayin homeboy. Yo dawg you got something for naked chinamen what the **** is up wit your sig *****. The worst part of this forum though, not to reiterate.
Are the Margarito haters. Most of them are defensive 15 year olds who have Floyd's **** buried down their throat. The only reason they hate Tony is because someone told them Floyd was ducking him.
Which he was, because he's scared ****less of Tony.
That's why he declined 8 million dollars to fight him.

See, this is what tells me you have no clue about boxing. You are trying to tell me that PBF, the most technically sound boxer in the world, could pick up some things from Margarito???? I would give you a little respect if you said someone like B-Hop or another fighter who actually uses ring knowledge to fight, but Margarito? you can't be serious. Please, go back and watch Floyd's fights with guys like N'Dou, Gatti, Judah, etc. He does NOT punch and run. Floyd was sticking and moving against Baldy because he hurt his hand and that was the most effective way to win. Otherwise he would have stood in the pocket and tore Baldy up. I truly believe I've heard it all now that you've said fighters could pick up technique tips from Margarito.See, this just tells me how new you are to boxing.
I never said i would like a fighter to throw punch like Margarito does. But i said they can pick up some of what he does in the ring to get their win, to make a fight less borring.
You see, what Mayweather did against Baldomier was punch and run.
Add what Margarito does and Mayweather would be throwing his jab out numerous times. He would use combos to set up another punch or to set up his opponet for a ko. Im not saying Mayweather should use the same technique but he and others can see what he does and apply it to there style.Comment

People don't hate Margarito. People hate the people that claim Margarito to be a great fighter, when he is clearly nothing more than a B level fighter. It has nothing to do with Floyd Mayweather. Although, It doesn't make it any better that he and Arum have ran their mouths so much about Floyd when anyone who has a clue about boxing knows PBF would tear his ass up.The worst part of this forum though, not to reiterate.
