Fleischer also wrote about it numerous times. It was an obvious set up but anyone with a brain would know this just by hearing the basics of the incident.

I did and it’s a 5 minute google search.
This is known history. Moderators such as yourself should know well known boxing history. It should not be a revelation.Comment

Wrong? No. Missing all the details? Yes. Presenting only what the poster wants others to believe? Yes.
The details I posted regarding the Jeanette fiasco came from a newspaper article and that article is quoted in numerous Dempsey bios including “The Manassa Mauler”. Suggest you pick up a copy so you know something of the subject matter.
Dude, once again. I didn't say it wasn't a set up. I simply have no way of knowing if it was a set up or not, so why are you trying to force me to agree that it was??? All I did was ask you to show the proof that it was definitively a set up, and you began talking about I'm lying. Now you agree that I'm not lying, but claim I'm not telling everything. I do agree with you that there were rumors that it was set up, but I haven't seen anything that made that clear. I have tried to find out what happened to Kid Norfolk but I haven't been able to see why he didn't participate. As for Joe Bonds, apparently he got sick.
The point I'm making is how do you set up someone who said they are willing to fight anyone (even 4 days out)? Then to still seem like a badass, he is to take on ANY TWO white heavies....just not ONE black guy.
Dempsey himself is quoted as saying he would fight ANY white fighter but would not fight a "colored boy." Have no idea why he referred to Jeanette as a "boy," but I haven't even gotten into that and I'm not going to draw conclusions from it. The only conclusion I can draw is that Dempsey, even with the crowd for it and before he was champion, was avoiding black fighters. Even for 4-6 round exhibitions for charity.
That's probably all that can be said definitively. Whether anyone wants to see that as a negative is up to them and I am not trying to sway anyone one way or the other.Comment
