Which WBA champ do you think he should have fought and when? I've already proved he tried fighting Coetzee. I can also prove none of the WBA champions from Ali till Tyson held the title for more than 2 years (only Weaver who Holmes had already beat) or defended the title more than twice (again, only Weaver, who Holmes already beat), so when exactly should he have fought these guys and where was the demand?

Of the eight WBA champions between Ali and Tyson they made a combined total of four defenses. Tate 0 defenses, Weaver 2 defenses, Dokes 1 defense, Coetzee 0, Page 0, Tubbs 0, Witherspoon 1 defense, Smith 0 defenses. Of these fighters Holmes had already beaten 2 of the guys on this list that had 3 of the 4 total defenses.

Holmes had clearly stated he would not fight in a country that supported apartheid. He certainly had no problem fighting Coetzee and signed to do so.
