    always those same 4 names....

2-1 vs duran (3rd fight was the definition of zzzzz)

could have gone either way vs shot hagler. and dont say how srl took a long lay off. while he was resting/training, hagler was getting shotter and shotter.

should be 1-1 vs hearns ( the 1st fight)

    benitez way overrated

if a fan were to truly and honesty put a guy under the same microscope, theyd be surprised by what they find.

im sure we will agree to disagree.

He pretty much fought everyone and did well. Great fighter and one of the best from his era.

Hell, if Hoya had possessed the ring instincts of Ali or Leonard he would have been a contender for GOAT.

However, he had no such instincts for ring generalship. In all of ring history I know of only Ali, Leonard and perhaps Mayweather to have possessed a radar hookup to the judges and the crowd.

From what I know and have seen it is also possible that Pep had this particular radar. He tried so hard in the Saddler fights because he was able to realize he was behind. Many fighters have great difficulty even realizing they are behind. Not Willie. Look how hard he tries. He knows he is losing and cannot accept it.

Pretty much agree on most of this. Duran was still in his prime in the second fight. Leonard's win there had less to do with weight issues and more to do with Leonard being more elusive, frustrating the proud Duran. Third fight came way too late. Hagler was pretty clear win, but still shot. Leonard himself admits this, mentioning in a bio Hagler talking with him in a restaurant and being ready to retire, plus Marvin's showing in the Mugabi fight proved he was shot and Ray was finally able to beat him. That's why I call that a pretty good win at best, not a great one. I wouldn't call Benitez overrated though. Duran and Hearns wins top DLH's resume IMO, but
Oscar still has a damn good one, since he took on all comers.

Speaking of Oscar and SRL, what Golden Boy is pulling now almost reminds me of Leonard waiting out Hagler and fighting him about 5 years after everyone wanted him to or Mayweather fighting Pacquiao about 5 years too late as well. Just hope Canelo doesn't wait another 3 or 4 years to make this fight with GGG happen. I kind of lost some respect for him, pulling this catch weight crap when he won the MW strap from Cotto, who also did the same thing and I lost respect for as result. If he waits too much longer, I doubt any hardcore boxing fan will take him seriously anymore then.

''i will not fight that man.''~ srl regarding hagler. hes never called out on that remark. has dlh ever said some shlt like that ?!?!?!

imho, dlh consistently fought more top ranked guys. h2h, prime for prime, its not an easy pick for me. one handed dlh is still 1 hand too many for most guys. there was a stretch where he wouldnt do anything but throw the left hook. used the right as a range finder

its is also mho that it was pac who stalled the may fight with his excuses and fears.they were pretty pathetic. i dont know the full details of gbp dealings with team 3g. all i know is 3g will make more money with what gbp is offering than he would with anyone else.

15 mil might seem like peanuts if a guy thinks the pie will be bigger but, as we see, 15 mil is better than no mil. i think if canelo wins they fight in sept. this is the year.

Yeah, but only because Leonard's career was shorter due to his eye injury. I love DLH though. And I call out Leonard often on that, but people think I'm crazy. All of a sudden May came up with this testing crap when fighting Manny. Never heard speculation about drug use before that about Pacquiao. Floyd came up with just as many excuses. First drug testing, then on the purse split. Took way longer to happen that it should have because of both sides. And since Canelo is lineal champion, I think GGG should take the offer, but only for them to fight at 160. Middleweight is 160, not 155. That should be the compromise, I take the offer, but no catch weight bs.

I guess Oscar would be ranked somewhere in the top 50?

What do I think of De La Hoya? I usually don't haha.

Nah, hell of a fighter, a very good fighter, hall of famer for sure. Not elite but should be ranked somewhere among the greats, maybe in that second tier.

I'm curious, did you lose any respect for Pacquiao due to all the catch weight fights he had?
