    In the top 10? Barely.

Depends on your definition of among the best. Ali, Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Foreman, Lison, Holmes are all better than him.

Head to head, when angry and highly motivated? he could beat any heavyweight in history! The myths about having a weak chin, are pathetic as well! he was laughing at Shannon Briggs, and took some heavy punishment from a decent version of Ray Mercer & a prime Vitaili Kiltschko! Lennox Lewis's toughness was his most underrated asset...

But unlike past great fighters, Lennox Lewis does not really have a defining fight! or challenge! and this is mainly due to other heavyweights avoiding him during the 90's (But when you analyse his wins, Lennox Lewis fought & beat most of the biggest punchers of the 90's!)...

        Not including resume

I think h2h Lennox is easily top 5 if not top 3.. Ali and Holmes would be the only ones I'm certain would beat Lennox

He was a good little fighter, I am not sure how much of an ATG.

All respect to lewis but no.... Got sparked too easily. Not once, but twice. Definitely took on all commers. Lewis even would avoid a mandatory to fight a more challenging fight, props to him for that.

Oliver McCall closed his eye's and swung in hope! and still Lennox Lewis got up off the floor, and technically could of carried on fighting! fair play Hasim Rahman as he done Lennox Lewis proper, but in the rematch he abused Rahman! Some of the all-time greats in history may beat Lennox Lewis on a complacent occasion! but if all of these fighters could fight each other numerous times? Lennox Lewis would probably spark them all out during rematches! His toughness was underrated, he fought all of the biggest punchers of the 90's and beat them all! (The moral to Lennox Lewis's career is? Don't fight him twice or he will completely ruin your life! He finished Hasim Rahman's entire career, and he also completely ruined Oliver McCall's life!)...

McCall had incredible potential actually. He executed properly, you really want to make an excuse under those circumstances? I don't know if LL could have continued fighting and suspect you do not either. One outstanding thing about Lewis is indeed that he avenged all his defeats... I want you to notice that when I said that I did not say things like: " BUT McCall was not in his right mind, Rahman was a bum" (in the sense that he was not living up to his potential and did not train much for the rematch)...what I said was what it was... Lewis avenged all his defeats! I don't know if you get my point or not...

By the way the only person who ruined MCcalls life was McCall...I don't recall seeing Lewis bringing crack ******* to Oliver, or taking out his mouth piece and forcing a glass pipe in...

Lewis fought all commers but all commers were good fighters, not usually great fighters. men like Morrison, Briggs (who people forget about but was very capable at the time) and Tua. Lewis also did have some versatility and when people say he fought guys who had faded they should remember he also beat guys like Razor Ruddock, a very underestimated fighter actually. You are also correct that he lewis functioned as a type of Darwinistic machine, putting guys like Grant and Golota where they belonged.

Lewis had tremendous power in his right hand and was better defensively than many credit him for...He fought some excellent fighters and may have made a few larger lists of ATG heavyweights...but alas, there were men who reign above as well as below LL

Good point about Lewis in rematches. Joe Louis is probably the only heavyweight who did better in rematches, Marciano was up there too, stopping Walcott, Gino Buonvino, Lastarza and Charles. His other rematch, Ted Lowry, went the same the second time as well with a 10 round UD and is the only exception there.

An often overlooked, and certainly undervalued statistic for sure. Ranks right up there with baseball's on base percentage.
