I thought Jordan was taller than that. He still qualifies for the giants tourney. I dunno, lil' darlin', that Jordan is awfully tall, awfully athletic. He must have some natural power. But, ah, I see where you are--no puncher's muscles in his back coiling serpentine under the skin from years of throwing punches, is that it? Think of the natural footwork of those long legs though.

Rocky lets the air out of Jordan's tires in four rounds.

    • I think that most modern basketballers beat the piss out of most all pre-professional boxers.. Without training!

This is because pre-professional boxers were so abysmally skilled they really weren't proper sportsmen at all.

Pre-professional (pre-80's) boxers were kind of the dregs left over who couldn't make it in already established sports through lack of talent but still had the competitive spirit and edge for conditioning combined with the anger and aggression from being useless at anything else to beat each others brains out in an archaic sort of fashion..

Of course the rest of the story is history... Circa 1980, sports science was applied to boxing, boxing became a professional sport in its own right, and the threat from the basketballers would be no more..

Back to boxing, yes, Holyfield was very often the lighter man and despite his roids was never really the biggest HW either.

He beat larger opponents, but if you look at the best good opponent who was really big he beat (Hasim Rahman), he was still only 6'2" just 250lbs and was WINNING against Holyfield until a stoppage occurred due to a freak haematoma.

And against the technical giants who were good+hefty and tall, his record is 1-3-1 and we all know the Lewis draw was bogus and I would argue he never really convincingly beat Bowe either.

Fury is in that league, atleast as good as Bowe imo.

I take nothing away from Holyfield at all, it's just that he is up to his limit with Fury.

It's kind of like Juggernaut said, Holyfield is about the limit of what nostalgically inclined posters can BELIEVABLY promote as a match for Fury.
No more moronic than what you post on a daily basis.

You said even if skill isn't as good, the bigger man will win. Well the bigger men didn't win against Gracie, because their skill wasn't as good. Size only matters if skill level is equal or the bigger man is more skilled.

I already alluded to the principal here but you missed it.

Gracie fought against totally different codes which is what the original UFC was founded upon.

Gracie can be held in the highest esteem because he showed the world that a base of BJJ was one of the more fundamental strengths required for an all goes form of combat.

As a result, BJJ remains one of the most popular training modes for UFC, it or some similar form of wrestling are an indispensible component of the training, even for predominant strikers.

If Gracie as he was was to meet TODAY'S best UFC fighters he would be beat by an evolution of the styles and the dramatic increase in size, strength, conditioning also.

In this way the modern era of UFC can be celebrated, AS can the founding era of Gracie also!

              You see how that works...

It's called temporal progression AND respecting your elders all rolled into one mate..

              Keep trollin nut bag!

That's rich, coming from you. One who can't grasp the concept that while some boxers of today are better than those of the past, the reverse is also true. It depends on what boxers you're talking about.

And Gracie was later beaten by the evolution of styles when he lost to Sakuraba and later Hughes.

I didn't say that. Again would imply I've said it before. And yes, to answer your question. If you really believe this stuff you pontificate, you're a moron and if you don't, then you're a trolling modern day douchebag. MDDB.
