Beau Jack!
In Georgia, Beau [Jack[ had learned the bolo punch, a theatrical blow in which he would crank his arm like a windmill before delivering a long reckless right.

Yea, as far as the taunting goes IMO that was pretty much all SR Leonard ever did with it as well.
If you take away the 'wind mill' it kinda looks like the Fitzsimmons Shift (Solar Plexus Punch) without the shift (footwork).
Do you know of any video with Ceferino Garcia delivering the blow?Comment

I'm good thanks fella, hope everything is good with you aswell. Have a browse on here once a week or so but my love for the sport is mostly gone and writing on here with it. Try to get into it everynow and then but can't, don't know what it is.
Interesting. Wasn't me describing the punch, that was Beau Jack talking.

"In Georgia, Beau Jack had learned the bolo punch, a theatrical blow in which he would crank his arm like a windmill before delivering a long reckless right."
And he was speaking in 3rd person and past tense, then you wasn't quoting him.
Not denying that Beau Jack didn't throw a bolo punch but it is not a 'long right' and Garcia was before Jack.
Can't get onto whatever website that is because they won't allow Europeans on.
What they described reminds me more of what Roy Jones did to Rich Hall, much more along the lines of 'theatrical' compared to the bolo.
Look up any footage of Garcia.Last edited by NChristo-; 05-01-2020, 03:50 AM.Comment

Not to be a **** but unless Beau Jack said:

I did look it up just after and there's a New York Times article from 1942 that describes Beau as using a bolo punch on an "Englishman", tried to look at the full article but NYT requires a subscription to see it's old articles and can't be arsed with that. Tried using Google News Archives to find it but no luck.
Could be the bolo or could be something wild, Beau Jack was an animal. Either way he's not mentioned usually and it's a good little tidbit, may do a bit more digging at some point or rewatch a few Jack fights, unfortunatly the first and main thing I think of with Jack is the Ike KO.Last edited by NChristo-; 05-01-2020, 05:37 AM.Comment

In an interview (I think sitting next to a young Tyson) Jack speaks to how his punches were to rounded and flashy and that Ike Williams use to tear him apart with straight punches.Comment
