I'm not saying anything bad about him. I'm a fan of a lot of fighters who did questionable things outside the ring.

I'm not discrediting him as a fighter in any way. He is the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Let me point out how ridiculous it is to take events out of context. The nation of islam hated ***s, yet Ali had an ongoing affection and friendship with one of the few men who supported his antiwar position, and supported him unconditionally, Howard Cosell.
See thats the difference between real understanding and troll trash....people say things all the time...Ali hated joe Louis, yet if anyone is not lazy, ******ed, and in possession of a computer one can see a film of Louis, working with Ali and clowning with Ali...hardly two people who have a hate for each other.
yes Ali said and did ****** things, so have we all. but actions speak louder than words...You might invest some of the time you use for trolling and look into what monsters the nation of islam could be at that time for famous people of color. Its kind of like scientology is for movie stars. These groups intimidate, threaten and control things that make it very difficult for a man of principle. ITS WHY MALCOLM X was murdered!! He disagreed with Eliga muhammed...Ali didn't want to be murdered, so he walked a fine line.
Its easy to not realize what pressure ali was under. he defied his society, you like a lot of ignoramuses seem to think his stand was out of cowardice, so be it....he had to defy the nation of islam to some degree while trying to win fights in the ring and being robbed of his best years because of his stand (what a coward I tell ya).

It was not the smartest thing Ali did, but it was what it was.

Do you have any proof of him being a woman beater?

I know I've read in passing that he had abused women. I'll look for a link when I get home.
Edit:The same applies to negative "achievements" outside of the ring: Should Mike Tyson be kicked out of toplists because he is a rapist? Should Clay/Ali be kicked out because he is a racist ("Cu Clux Clay")? Maybe you want to exclude Sonny Liston (gas station robbery) but want to leave Joe Louis (since it's "just" tax evasion)? Maybe you should exclude wife-beater Muhammad Ali? But maybe you want to leave Joe Frazier because his wife-beating arrest was "only" after his career?
