Lamotta was skilled ...he was also 5'6 and not nearly or remotely on either floyds or Jones skill level or stature.Being 5'6 or so really doesn't hold his chances with a speedster like either.Put those little gloves on Floyd and Lamottas chances are even further down graded due to increase punching speed.Middle weight was how much in his day?Lets be real here its a terrible match up for him against Floyd who is elusive/bigger and more skilled in about everything,he is no Pacman he is wild and easy to read.Spew garbage Ray? At least you lessoned the meds today....then again you mysteriously brought up WEIGHT the one thing you insist does not factor anything in boxing,i guess when the argument only suits you??????
Why have modern fighters not evolved to be better than SRR

If ignorance was bliss you'd be laughing all day long!
Study the history sonny so you atleast know heights & weights!
LaMotta would never fight Floyd because Floyd would NEVER sign to fight him!!!
No time for this tonite, more lieing and carrying on like children do.......Comment

LaMotta NEVER fought at 150 he was a Middleweight who rehydrated to 175 can't you read?
Do and say what you want, you just said you know little about him then shut up and go learn something. Theres a reason your looked at as a idiot here....
you ARE an idiot!
Anyone who doesn't know the history surrounding Jake LaMotta knows very little about the history of boxing. He was one of the most colorfull and feared fighters ever. Try to learn something before you open your "boca grande".

you're a fool RAY,Lamotta fought at 154 the same as Floyd at one point so why don't we keep the match realistic...again Ray according to you size doesn't count so who cares right? Im not writing a personal life on Lamotta im posting a match up of what may happen in the ring to show fighters did improve over the ones who Robinson fought,i can also tell you as a TRAINED athlete myself no way is Lamotta the 175 hulk at 5'8 you make him out be he entire body doesn't even look remotely 160,he actually would look like me if I fasted for a month...again Ray .Comment

I did say he was 5'8 ....he fought at 154....he fought SRR at around 155 in the clips I saw.Just because he is also fighting in weight division doesn't necessarily mean hes that weight.according to Ray size never counts so its a wash regardless.he simply made Jake a 175 pounder vs Floyd the 150 pounder to win an argument, something he hasn't done with me yet...Lamotta is not nearly as skilled and at 154 pounds imop would get tattod by Floyd though I would root for Lamotta. .Last edited by juggernaut666; 04-23-2015, 04:04 AM.Comment

I don't think LaMotta was ever that low in a boxing contest, amateur or professional.
The clip you saw of Robinson-LaMotta, their sixth contest, he would of been in the region of 168.
LaMotta had serious trouble getting down to weight so he didn't lose the crown before even entering the ring.
Such was his difficulty on that occasion that he successfully lobbied for a 10am weigh-in, two hours earlier than standard procedure to allow him extra time to recover.Last edited by joeandthebums; 04-23-2015, 06:44 AM.Comment

IMO Jones jr was quite a lot faster then Robinson and has all the physical advantages at the weight except chin but Jones extreme reflexes would negate Robinson's chin advantage, 168lbs Jones wins no doubt in my mind. At WW & MW Robinson matches up well with anyone, 168-175lbs A LOT of fighters IMO would beat him. Jones, Toney, Ward, Calzaghe to name a few. People will laugh at Calzaghe but he had a great engine, very fast, good chin and an adaptable fighter.Comment
