  • I think Robinson was great for his time and I believe you get judged on that so I have no problem with people thinking he is the greatest. But he is not the best. As their is no footage of him at 147lbs we cannot judge but from 160-175lbs loads of fighter would have handled him no problems.

Maybe you could be more specific than "loads."

They are the ones I have seen I am sure you can throw others in as well. 160+ they hold the physical advantages. If Jake Lamotta can beat Robinson a lot of other can as well. It appears boxing is the only sport which the marvel of modern sport science does effect...

A bore like Ho'kins could never beat Robinson. Who would give him a decision? I know Robinson would throw a lot of punches and I know Ho'kins wouldn't. Ho'kins never did have a punch and he has always been slow. He is a good technical boxer who never beat any great middleweights.

He has his trinket collection and his age record. The man wanted immortality and he was not good enough to have it without some gimmicks. Only in the last few years of his career did he seek big challenges. Before that he whiled away the decades defending useless belts against ham & eggers so he could have a record.

Aside from that, every single guy on your list is naturally bigger than Robinson. Of course they hold physical advantages, they are bigger than him. Try some middleweights. Robinson fought beyond that limit once in 200 fights.

If this were posted a million times here...put on Elroy's bottle of Tylenol, affixed to Juggernuts cap....It would be too few times.

I do not agree with you here, the quality of opposition back then was much better than today. I also think the way judges judge fights today does nothging to improve the game, in fact they award the guy who runs and hides over the aggressor in virtually every fight these days.

                    • Look at an olympic record chart. And these are numerical sports with far less intangibles. There are tons of records that haven't been broken since the 80's and even way farther back.
