I believe Frazier was the guy who couldn't live with himself if he dodged anyone, so Big George could very well have been his next foe. And George knew how to handle Joe.

Though, in the Manila case, as much as I disliked Angelo Dundee, I think this would be the case when he would have won the fight for Ali.
Ali was completely damaged by the body blows he had recieved and he told his corner after the 14th he wanted to quit. But I think Dundee would have talked him into entering the final round, and that Ali had been able to avoid the blinded Frazier's punches for three more minutes.

    Just my thoughts.

hindsight is always 20/20 so im glad you were actually there and can provide insight

Was the quarry fight that big of a win,,, it hardly ever gets mentioned,, where was quarry at in his career when he fought frazier?

Sorry to ask so many questions, just trying to get some first hand knowledge
Actually i seem to remember, and some of the other old timers can correct if I am wrong: But Big George did not want a rematch. Not sure if a rematch was on the table under the circumstances

Yeah but he had already beaten those guys a several years early and only took a few rounds back then.. I think it takes some luster if the wins years later

as for Frazier and him deserving this 3rd fight, absolutely. Besides George I think Frazier was alis biggest pay day and besides that, they thought he was shot. I'm glad we got this instead of a foreman rematch because if it resembled their first I would be put to sleep watching it.

lol. No he didn't deserve it.

Frazier got his ass molly whopped for the majority of that fight. Ali was landing all kinds of punishment on Frazier that entire fight. His trainer did the right thing by stopping it. Even though they were both dead tired, and Frazier had inflicted a lot of damage on his own, Frazier just couldn't see the punches coming. No, he didn't deserve it. Ali did.

You may want to read the actual thread or atleast the opening post before you decide to display your ignorance as usual.

I figured this was maybe a trolling thread about how Frazier should have won the third Ali fight. That silly shït pops up every now and then.

So yeah, my bad - no need to call me ignorant though just because you don't agree with me. The shït in the Packy-Chavez thread was well thought out, not ignorant stuff at all.

Looks like you can't even read either because it's even in the thread title. It says "Did Frazier deserve the 3rd Ali fight" not "Did Frazier deserve the 15th round in the 3rd Ali fight". You're a complete imbecile who should just stick to NSB where you belong.

You and Sleazyfellow are probably right. What I was thinking of, and don't know exactly what the time line was regarding, was news that after the Ali fight Foreman basically was so upset that he stopped fighting. This narrative may have been exxagerated, or come after Foreman fought a few more times?

The gist of the narrative I understood was that Ali really hurt Big George psychologically, virtually lifting his patena of invincability. One consequence of thgis being at some point, George leaving the sport to quietly contemplate what had happened and to subsequently reenvent himself.
