What fights are you referring to
floyd mayweather is not a good finisher, and really doesn't do well at all coming forward in a historic context. there are scores of fighters who are more effective at pressuring and hurting an opponent. it's often something he does only when his opponent has followed him around all night and is gunshy from the counters.Last edited by New England; 04-06-2014, 12:42 PM.

Higher up and weight, and top caliber fighters, its very hard to finish guys..
Jmm, oscar, cotto, ghost, canelo, etc only cotto has been stopped when floyd fought them...
I do agree that finishing guys isnt his strong suit, but by far floyd is still the most skillful guy i have seen in close to 30 years of watching this sport

Finishing has nothing to do with skillset IMO I can't fault Whitaker or Roy Jones for not finishing their higherr weight fights. Even Ike Williams had some distance scraps and he owns the worst finish over another fighter I've eve seen.
Here is my top 5 though
1. Roy Jones
2. Ray Leonard
3. Ray Robinson
4. Pernell Whitaker
5. Floyd Mayweather
Honourables of course to the rest of great technicians.

I roy had good skills to fall back on, he would have beaten tarver in the 3rd fight and turned him into a novice sparring partner like grandpa hopkins did

If roy had skills to fall back on, he wouldnt be getting destroyed and clowned by calzaghe, tarver 2,3, glen johnson,
And many people thought tarver won the 1st fight.. I thought roy won it, but it was very close....
