    jones jnr at middle
    ray leonard at welter
hearns at welter would be interesting too

not saying they'd beat him, not by any means, but well just answering the question!

In over 320 bouts Sugarman was NEVER stopped by his opponent. Why in the world would Jones do it, he's not exactly a power puncher.
      Ray.

Jones punched very hard unless you missed his career. I wouldn't pick him to stop Robinson but he was lightning fast with power during his prime from 160 to 175. Ask Virgil Hill.

I don't pick anyone to beat him at WW. Mayweather has the defense to go the distance with him but due to Robinson's power advantage I think Floyd would be on the backfoot too often to win a decision.

At MW Hopkins might spoil him out. Thats a big might.

Hagler could box with him and go the distance but Robinson would be much faster, and again he is the harder puncher.

Roy Jones speed would be unlike anything hes seen. That would cause problems.

Robinson matches up ridiculously well against nearly everyone in history because he is almost always the faster guy, and pretty well always the harder puncher too. Plus his chin was solid and he could box or go to war.

And he has a one punch KO chance in every fight even if hes losing.

I give SRL, Hagler, Monzon a chance, that's about it. Pernell or Floyd would beat em if they were a bit bigger in size. But I definitely believe Roy Jones Jr. beats em.

At welterweight I believe a prime Leonard may have the best chance of any fighter in that division's history. Maybe a prime Armstrong, Griffith, possibly Napoles. I reckon a prime Hearns would have a puncher's chance at 147 pounds, the first man to stop Robinson??

At middleweight the field opens up and I'm sure that any of the following would be able to win 1 or 2 fights in a trilogy:

              Marvin Hagler
              Carlos Monzon
              Roy Jones
              Ray Leonard
              Tommy Hearns
**** Tiger (what a fight that would be)

By the time the original Sugar man reached 160, he was no longer as fleet as his 147 pound counterpart. Robinson went to war more often at middleweight because he was no longer the "dancer" and the quick reflexed demon he had been in his youth. That's why there are a fair few fighters at the weight who have a chance of beating him but be under no illusions, Robinson would come back and win at least one of those rematches.
              Doesn't matter which division.

hearns and leonard have the best shot at 147 and from what I've read of greb, i think he would have given ray a run for his money.

I can see some plausability with some of the scenerios described but Jones? Sure Roy might catch him but what happens to Roy when he is caught? I guess there is a scism here: Some feel like there was a time when Roy had a chin and that it was not simply a matter of him not getting caught...so be it, I don't buy that hypothesis. Tarver was quick enough because he was not intimidated by Jones thats how I see it.

For Jones to win this fight, logically a couple of things must happen....Sugar Ray must not connect, which is unlikely, And Jones must be able to beat up and perhaps KO a man who was pretty much damn bulletproof. I don't see it.

No doubt SRR has a good chance of knocking Roy out, I just think the unorthodox speed and power Roy brings to the table would pose some problems that would make it an interesting fight.

And this is one fight where Ray isnt the faster guy.

I didn't post my P4P ideas on the subject.

If weight, height and reach didn't matter and we were taking into account only skill, speed and power...the mythical P4P comparisons then there are two fighters who I believe would give Robinson the toughest, hardest, fights of his life.

One is Ali, a heavyweight homage to the great Robinson, lacking that extra edge in power but I think Ali was better at negating his opponents offense then even the great Robinson. And the other name is is Mike Tyson. P4P Tyson hit harder and had tremendous speed of his own, Robinson was someone who could be caught by swinging left hooks, how would he handle the hardest puncher he ever faces? Mouth watering contests, if we only had the magic to make them happen.
