how about griffin and napoles at WW? not saying they would win but imo they would be among the most competetive and they havent been mentioned yet as far as i know.

i agree with hearns and hagler too, hearns' speed, power and height would give anyone fits and if SRR ever struggled it was generally fighting someone with a good jab. hearns would outjab him for sure imo and before hagler he could take a good punch too. not saying he could take robinsosn best shot but he wouldnt go as easily as a lot of ppl around here would assume.

hagler would have the skill and intelligence to cut him off and make it a fight, SRR could hold his own for sure but down the stretch that kind of fight would benefit hagler. question is if robinson could win enough rounds boxing early and then hold him off to win a decision. i think he would.

nunn at MW would be a tall order too, figuratively and literally.

I believe roy jones jr would get a UD over suger ray robinson,i think roy would be too quick and accurate robinson would find it difficult establishing his jab and i dont think ray could get in and out on roy to rack up a points win but i think roy could on ray if he needed to.

i would like to see him vs the middleweights of the 80's roy jones been mentioned, but gerald mcclellan, julian jackson, james toney, nigel benn all would have been good fights. i dont think anyone at welterweight would be favoured over him.

How about a Robinson clone? Either way he wins and loses haha.

In terms of fighters who came after him then fighters with perhaps a 30% or better chance would be:

              Welterweight
              Griffith
              Napoles
              Benitez
              Hearns
              Duran
              Leonard
              Mayweather

              Middleweight
              Tiger
              Griffith
              Monzon
              Hagler
              McCallum
              Jones Jr
              Hopkins

I think the only guy i'd give more than 50% probability would be Monzon at Middleweight.

Other than Leonard all the welters get stopped. Leonard has the tools to survive and the main attribute is his speed and size! At 5'10" and a solid 147 to 155 he does have the ability to get through. My observation has alot to do with how the "real" Sugar Ray feels about it!!
Mayweather, Benitez, Duran and Hearns get KO'd!!! Hearns has no defense or chin for Ray, Robinson will torch his body and hurt Tommy bottom & top. Benitez has nothing to keep Ray off him, no power at all. Same for Mayweather & Duran plus it would be worse because their both so small and their stregthens were at 140 and even then they have zero power to sway someone like Robinson.

As a Middleweight Robinson got stronger so my feelings don't agree with the fans on this forum that as a welter only Robinson dominates. As a Middle he was free to eat what he wanted and didn't have to be concerned with the scales.
I think Monzon would show the best out of Humeans choices and Haglers desire and joy to be in with Sugar Ray would help his performance no doubt.
People like Jones and Hopkins will be overmatched mentally as well as physically. Remember Robinson at 5'11" doesn't give size away, and none of the middles can punch like him.
I'm amazed how folks on this forum don't recognize Sugar Ray Robinsons greatness! When the best boxing minds like Arcel, Brown, Benton, Nappi, Soloman, Moore, Dundee, Chappi , Steward think so! Then fighters like Bassillo, LaMotta, Moore, Marciano, Louis, Ali, Holmes, R. Leonard all know who the best was its silly how people who are NOT active in the sport on any level can't see the differences in skills and mental aptitude.
Just trying to educate, your choices are yours. Basing thoughts with facts!!
                Ray.

I thought about this some more, and actually i dont think monzon stands too good of a chance,, SRR would have him beat in every department,,,

I think jones with his speed, power, size and hagler have better chance

Still though,, every fighter ever around that weight would be the underdog,, SRR is the GOAT

sugar ray whups all at 147 including leonard. at 160 I gotta go with frank tate. nah but seriously, only seen 1 that could get sugar ray and that's roy jones. jones would have to circle n box cautiously like he did Hopkins to win a dull but close decision. if jones was to try and mix it up with robinson he might open him up n hurt him but odds r he'd get caught n end up in 50's style fight n lose. u feel me?

The fight I would love to see at 147 would be Robinason vs Napoles, at the top of his game. I have been watching napoles fight a lot lately and his ability to judge distance is incredible. He never reacts to a punch because he knows right where he is.
i think it would be a great fight.
