Who do you pick to have the best chance to beat the fighter who's most commonly called the greatest? More specifically after his and Jake's time period. You can also do least amount of chance if it amuses you.

SRL, Hagler, burley, Monzon, Roy jones, would be the only guys around 147-160 that i think could put up a decent fight vs SRR
Pernell also but i dont give him as high of chance as the others,,,

I wouldn't pick anyone to beat Robinson at welter. But if I absolutely had to, it would be Whitaker or Mayweather because of their superb defensive skills. Although more likely they would just go the distance and lose without taking as much punishment as most would.

I think Emile Griffith has a shot. At WW.

Are you asking at Welterweight, Middleweight or P4P?
At welterweight I believe a prime Leonard may have the best chance of any fighter in that division's history. Maybe a prime Armstrong, Griffith, possibly Napoles. I reckon a prime Hearns would have a puncher's chance at 147 pounds, the first man to stop Robinson??
At middleweight the field opens up and I'm sure that any of the following would be able to win 1 or 2 fights in a trilogy:
Marvin Hagler
Carlos Monzon
Roy Jones
Ray Leonard
Tommy Hearns
**** Tiger (what a fight that would be)
By the time the original Sugar man reached 160, he was no longer as fleet as his 147 pound counterpart. Robinson went to war more often at middleweight because he was no longer the "dancer" and the quick reflexed demon he had been in his youth. That's why there are a fair few fighters at the weight who have a chance of beating him but be under no illusions, Robinson would come back and win at least one of those rematches.

Yeah he was "really old" at Middleweight all of 30 yrs old! Sugar is considered the "best fighter ever" at "any weigh"! Why is it so hard to see his videos and watch power with speed and agressiveness with ring generalship?
He didn't dance with a guy he fely he could get rid off, a real fighter! He would be more cautios out of respect for guys with his attitude who had the goods to hurt him. Those guys he would take deeper into the fight but make sure he was winning on the way!
He wasn't the best at a weight he was simply the BEST! Still is!!!
Mayweather or Hopkins? Really??? LaMotta would eat them for breakfast then lunch!
Todays fans hero's are good boxers thats it! Theres nothing mean about them theres no way their earnings are in jepardy and theres no way they can gain the experience needed to deal with a Sugar Ray Robinson.
Leonard might last because of his speed and size but if he steps up to trade he gets KO'd. Try to remember that Robinson punches harder than all the fellows mentioned. He hit harder than Monzon and Hagler! Ray

Roy Jones Jr. At 160 or 168 Id actually pick Roy. Ray has the power and combination to land on Roy but I dont think he'll land enough to stop Roy before Roy. Jones hits Robinson all night until he stops him late.
