When Oscar fought Vargas, Vargas was considered mean and ready to eat Oscar for lunch in a steriod infused rage... That fight was seminal for Oscar because AT THAT TIME tis victory made Oscar a top tier guy in many experts minds. Nw wouldn't ya know it? as Nando's stock went down so did Oscar's.

Oscar's persona has vasilated considerably over the years. Many consider him the Butterbean of the welterweights, ie a great 3-5 round fighter, some think his lack of consistancy in big fights sealed the deal.

I don't feel he is top tier but he can fight top tier.

A prime Oscar would give anybody problems. People tend to underrate him because he was so damn popular, it was annoying at times.

When Oscar fought Vargas, he was known as the guy Trinidad knocked out and cracked his chin which was clear to see in his very next fight.

Perceptions changed at the weigh in. Vargas was ready to go and he proved it fight night by putting on a great challenge

This is a good point. Everyone found a reason to dislike Delahoya back in his prime and hold fights against him or call him a ducker, myself included.

Made us look like twats at the end though

Oscar may have never dominated a division like a hagler or roy jones but oscar fought everyone, usually at their peak, throughout his career,,,

Dude fought 4 p4p #1 fighters, pernell, hopkins, floyd, manny

plus prime undefeated champions like ike, tito, shane, genaro, sturm

throw in ruelas,, leija, mayorga, vargas, camacho

Oscar fought everyone, took on huge challenges like undefeated tito, roided vargas, much bigger hopkins,, much younger floyd and manny,,,,,

I honestly think oscar has top 5 resume of all-time,,,

Yes he didnt win all his fights, but you try fighting the guys he fought, and he fought them all prime for the most part,,,
I still get blown away by oscar fighting ike, tito, and shane in about 18 months,,

Ridiculous schedule,,, It a shame that floyd mayweather doesnt follow oscar's lead and make the big fights happen over and over again... The sport would be so much better
What's funny is that Oscar is Floyd's hero, and Manny's too

His resume is top 5, if not, top 10.

I don't know about heroes, but Floyd and Oscar despise each other, and have for a long time now.
