But Tyson undoubtably hit extremely hard regardless, with superior technique and in quicker combination than Shavers or Foreman. There probably would be opponents that prime Tyson would KO that might be more decisive than Foreman or Shavers simply due to the overwhelming effect of his combination punching when the opponent was hurt.
    100% with you.

Most of Marcanio's best wins were over former light heavies who moved up, little men who even after their move up were under 200. Its a new era, Tyson flattens marcaino. The guy got dropped by way less fighters than Tyson.
So hitting Marciano with the same left hook that nearly twisted Ezzard Charles head off and recovering was nothing? Then getting dropped by the man with the most knock outs in history is a lesser fighter? Wow, what troll bait you set.

I don't think Marciano would make it with the heavies from the present, but to write him off because he's small compared to the roided out monsters of today is silly, if he were around he'd prolly do the same thing they're doing.

As for the title of the topic, no, he didn't have foreman or shavers power, but he was a better ko artist for sure.

I agree Tyson was much sharper as a puncher but I don't think that his accuracy should be strictly separated from his "pure" power as many do. I think Tyson was a perfect knockout puncher, his punches were more explosive than guys like Foreman or Shavers and would hurt less but would be more likely to put you to sleep, Shavers and Foreman were more heavy handed their punches would hurt more than Tysons and have more of an effect on a heavy bag, but they werent as concussive and werent as likely to KO you with, they clubbed you down, I remember a sparring partner once describing the difference between Wlad's power and Foremans, he said Foremans punches had a lot of force and were extremely painful, but that when Wlad hit you good you went into lala land, I think that same principle applies here with Tyson.

              • In my opinion Foreman punched harder than either of them. He also knocked out the better fighters and that can't be argued.

I can't see James Tillis going tbe distance with Foreman. That's an example. Tyson punched very hard but he wasn't knocking out the same type of opponents Foreman was. Shavers either.

Stewart went the distance with Foreman, Tyson threw Stewart like ragdoll in the first round. Savarese the same.

Foreman from the 1970's would have squashed both those guys almost as quickly as Tyson did.
