Prime Sonny Liston vs Prime Lennox Lewis

Good morning and a happy wake and bake to everyone. To me it's a tossup because of Lewis's chin. He is the better fighter no doubt. Liston at his best was tough and could take anything Lewis has to offer. That Liston jab was no joke. Lewis is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Let's not forget Rahman and McCall KOed Lewis with one shot.

This is why I gave the edge to Liston. I think at some point Sonny catches that chin with a good jab or straight right and then it's good night Lewis. If McCall and Rahman can, I don't see why Liston couldn't. KO in 4. In a 3 fight series, I could see Lewis winning 2 of 3 though.

But I am reminded that during the later 1950s and early 60s, those bright-future jet age decades when America's dominance over the world was unchallenged even by the cardboard tubes parading over red square, and lower primate references to Sonny Liston were the accepted norm. As it had been with Johnson, and not so much with the more agreeable Louis, Charles, Walcott and Patterson, generally model citizens who hid their flame beneath a bushel, it was widely understood that there simply was no cowboy, farmer, biker, bouncer or lumberjack on the planet as a member of the master race who Liston couldn't lick in a fight.
