not to infer that he didnt have good skills but that there is a huge gap between their skills.
Doesn't mean that there is a huge gap. But it's pretty clear cut.

Hard to think of anyone putting punches together 'better' then Joe Louis, maybe on the same level but he reached the peak of combination punching.

          How do you qualify that?

Tyson, for starters was capable of boxing an opponent.

He moved and threw punches (which he had the whole arsenal of and used in some of the combinations ever seen in the heavyweight division) with great technique.

He was always in a position to strike, even after a miss.

What skills does Rocky have over him?

Tyson was super skilled. When you mention his name the first thing which comes into the people's head are his aggressiveness and his punching power. His defensive skills are incredibly underrated.

Even well post prime he did great though he is given such little credit but reality is a prime Tyson beats most HW's if not all to ever live, head-to-head.

He beat nobody blah blah blah, nit-pickers & I agree his C.V isn't the best ever but you could pick faults with any fighters. Any fighter to ever live.

Personally I'd only give a Prime Wlad, prime Lewis, Holyfield & a prime Holmes a chance over him head-to-head. Incase you're wondering why Vitali isn't here is because I think Wlads a hell of a lot better in nearly every area & Vitali's style is what Tyson thrived on despite the huge size & reach difference. Foreman would of been used a heavybag, way to slow.

Wouldn't you give Ali a chance against Tyson?

Hell, you only need to watch YouTube clips for 5 or 10 minutes to see how unbelievably skilled Joe Louis was.

all that and more, pressuring opponents cutting off the ring, aka boxing them

                      fainting skills

                      distance, timing, punching form

                      defense

                      efficiency in movements

and equal ability to pick shots.

between the 2 id say Marciano was much better at putting together combos. very similar at throwing combos in a sense of they would punch then carefully pick their next shot. tyson was faster but marciano had much better timing distance and accuracy.
