    Castillo x2 (#1 LW, Lineal/WBC Champ)
    Gatti (#1 JWW, WBC Champ)
    Judah (#2 WW, IBF Champ)
    Baldomir (#1 WW, Lineal/WBC Champ)
De La Hoya (#1 JMW, WBC Champ) [off Mayorga, 10oz gloves]
    Hatton (UR, #8 P4P)
    Marquez (UR, #2 P4P) [gave Pac hell 2 yrs afterwards @ 140+]
Mosley (#2 WW, #3 P4P, WBA Champ) [people demanded this, off Margo]
Ortiz (#2 WW, WBC Champ) [off career fight Berto]
    Cotto (#1 JMW, WBA Champ
De La Hoya was #5 JMW. Not #1.

    #3 or #5, I can't remember.

    Definitely not #1, though.

He was #3 behind Spinks and Karmazin.

True, Chavez had a lot of filler fights, but even the filler fights are more difficult than not actually taking fights. And to Chavez's credit, while there are plenty of filler fights, he also fought just about everybody. Can you name anyone he never faced, whom he should have faced? (ok, he never rematched Whitaker, who clearly deserved it, but at least he faced him). And realistically, Floyd's taken a few filler fights, too, including Sharmba Mitchell, Henry Bruseles, etc.

Nonetheless, the 49-0 record is for heavyweights. Clearly, lightweights and featherweights have gone past that record. No other heavyweight has passed it.

A better and more respected opponent than either of them though.

Certainly more respected, but Karmazin was hot at that point and Spinks, in spite of his horribly boring style, was a tough fight for anyone. I'm not saying I agree with the rankings but it is what it is, I looked it up.

Don't hate on Sharmba Mitchell! >__>..I loved that guy.

Anyway, I don't think so. I think he said he was only going to do a few more fights, right? Beating Pac and/or Martinez counts for more than 7 filler fights...even if he IS kind of a heavy favorite..stylistically against Pac.

After Cotto Mayweather has jail time. I doubt he will reach 49-0 unless he fights Micky Hatton type opponents the rest of his career.

THAT's what Mayweather should do though. Fight Sergio Martinez and then Pacquiao. If he beats those guys, that could be a great capper to his career.

Sharmba had his day, but he was absolutely chanceless against Mayweather by the time they fought.
