When I hear about steroids, drug testing, PEDs, and "cheating" in the sport of boxing, I tune out quick. It doesn't interest me in the least, I think it's 99.999% BS, and frankly, I just don't care.

My favourite thing about Holyfield is his heart.

      That wasn't the steroids.

Though Im su****ious there is no solid evidence to convict Holyfield of cheating. With that said, you've made the best post of the thread. Suspect or not, Holyfield was all heart.

Incredible muscle growth, hair loss, heart problems. All things which Steroids/HGH do (Also worked with well known bodybuilder). Add to the fact that Dwight Qawi said he's been told from alot of good sources he did do it.

          All the evidence is there.......

Based on circumstantial evidence... maybe. On actual evidence...no.

            Because there is none.

Sorry but that is not solid evidence, it's conjecture. Solid evidence would be a dirty test, recordings of him discussing his steroid use, a video of him knowingly accepting a package of steroids under the name Evan Fields. Everything you have listed can be reasonably explained with minimal effort. Like I said, I suspect, but with no proof Im not going to slander a person.

They don't build muscle by themselves. HGH does build muscle by itself. But they're not the same thing. If I'm misinformed, ok. But I believe I'm right. I'll look into it more.
They help recovery, but a lot of them will increase muscle mass as well.

Then, they regurgitate some stuff they heard a pundit say. That might not be indicative of everybody, it's just my experience. Like I said, I'm not pro-steroids, I'm just not anti-steroids.
Well, even repeating pundit-talk is not always bad because sometimes the pundits are right and sometimes they can make good arguments that maybe people overlooked in the past.

I'm against people using steroids as things stand because it gives an unfair advantage and puts both boxer's health at risk. Due to these substances being illegal, they often don't go through clinical trials so it's hard to know the side effects, but what's happened to so many pro wrestlers is a decent indication.

I also don't agree with the argument (that I have seen others make, not yourself) that if everyone was allowed to use them it would be ok because it would be fair. Let's take the Super Six (just because it featured a variety of fighters in terms of strengths/weaknesses). If there are steroids that boost stamina, it wouldn't help everyone equally, it would help Jermain Taylor (and maybe AA) the most. If there are steroids that help speed, it would help Froch and AA the most. If there are steroids that help punching power, it benefits Ward the most.

They have yet to find anything that cures a glass chin. So if one guy's big flaw was his punch resistance, and another guy's big flaw was his stamina, steroids would likely help the bad stamina guy a lot more and give him a win where otherwise he may lose.

Another thing I have noticed from undercard bouts is you'll often have a prospect vs a journeyman, and the prospect looks a lot bigger, likely because due to promotional backing he has a smart trainer who makes sure he boils down for the weigh-in and then comes in very big for the fight, whereas the journeyman comes in close to weigh-in weight. Allowing steroids would mean these kinds of advantages are increased because I've no doubt the young prospect with big potential will be able to afford better gear than the clubfighter who was brought in to lose.

Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire aren't going to Cooperstown because of their 'Roid use.....And Bonds was a first-ballot lock well before he took his first PED. Barry got his HR record.....at the cost of his historical legacy.
