Marquez is one of the greatest lightweights I have ever seen and while he may not be higher on most ATG lists because of resume, I believe he is a better fighter than Duran and I would favor him to beat Duran had they ever met on their best night. For you to disregard him completely shows you don't appreciate how great Marquez is.
I have never bought into the notion that Duran is some unbeatable God at lightweight.
That's not something I'd be bragging about if I were you. The rest of your post is laughable.
When you watch him it's just mindblowing. Who would you pick to beat him at his peak @lightweight?
I wouldn't favor anybody over him. Whitaker possibly could have beaten Duran but I wouldn't call him the favorite. I have not seen Gans or Leonard so I can't speak on them.
This dude is a nuthugger, but Mayweather would stand a chance with his lightning quick feet. Duran was frustrated by ultra-slick Benitez and Leonard (when Leonard decided to box instead of brawl) and Mayweather is very, very skilled. Now, at 135, he wasn't nearly as strong or good on the inside so I would still favor Duran, but he wouldn't be embarrassed. At welterweight, I would actually favor Mayweather, because he doesn't have the same (in the ring) bravado that he did when he was younger and would stick completely to his gameplan.
