As for people who expected more im not sure what it is they were hoping to see. Even before the movie hit the theatres it was clear that Gatti would not be included. The movie's timeline focused on Ward's road to fighting Sanchez and any boxing fan who knows Ward's story is not deceived into believing that Micky won some prestigious world title.

With that said it has to be there in the top 5.
    Co-sign.

The Fighter was a great movie and this was Bale's best performance to date. Sure there are some parts of the movie that probably don't fit the timeline exactly and some parts are overblown, but every movie is it's Hollywood.

Definitely one of the best movie's of the year and one of the best boxing movies in a long time.

I thought it was a great movie. the only thing that would have made it better is if Gatti was in it. if Gatti was in the movie who do you think they would have cast for the part?

If they made a movie about Gatti or if Gatti was in the movie the "The Fighter, I think Benicio Del Toro would be a good choice for the actor he looks like Gatti except he is fairly tall. So the movie would need a tall cast.

I really need to see this. My personal favorite is Undisputed though.

I like Benicio Del Torro, but I think he would look much to old now to play a younger Gatti. He is in fact only 5 years older than what Gatti would have been a bared a pretty close resemblance when he was younger.

Your right that could be a problem. But if he got in shape which he would have to do, he might look a little younger. There may be other things they can do to make him look a little younger.

Benicio is not much older then Mark Wahlberg. 5 or 10 years from now if they made a Gatti movie it would be much to late. They have to get on it quick lol.

I can't think of any other good actors that look like Gatti. But Mark Wahlberg did not really look much like Micky Ward so maybe its not that important.

Im not going to spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it ranks above most boxing movies, yet below the elite. I will say that Christian Bale did a FANTASTIC job as ****ie Ecklund. Bale is quietly becoming one of this generations finest actors.

As far as the movie goes I'd rank it below the following movies at least.

                    Rocky
                    Cinderella Man
                    Million Dollar Baby
                    Raging Bull
                    The Champ
                    The Harder they fall
                    Rocky II

For those who have seen it, what movies (if any) woulkd you put ahead of the "Fighter"?
I havent seen it yet man, my missus is actually supposed to be bringing home a copy tonight tho. I will say tho for me The Rocky movies cant be touched as far as boxing movies, with the possible exception of Rocky 5 which i still liked. Raging Bull is good but waaaay over rated. Million Dollor Baby was great but man that movie really bums me out!

Watched it last night and LOVED it! Classic, *****s all over Raging Bull and falls second only to Rocky movies. Bale is a dead cert for an Oscar he stole the show but Marky Mark was good too, he even punched like Mickey Ward

                      5 star
