Im not going to spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it ranks above most boxing movies, yet below the elite. I will say that Christian Bale did a FANTASTIC job as ****ie Ecklund. Bale is quietly becoming one of this generations finest actors. As far as the movie goes I'd rank it below the following movies at least.

          Rocky
          Cinderella Man
          Million Dollar Baby
          Raging Bull
          The Champ
          The Harder they fall
          Rocky II

For those who have seen it, what movies (if any) woulkd you put ahead of the "Fighter"?

Bale is one of my favorite actors. I haven't seen "The Fighter" but I'll watch it when it comes out on DVD. I expect the acting to be great but I have heard they played fast and loose with the faCts which is common in movies like that. They did the same thing in "ALI"(which I thought was horrible).

Rocky 1 and 2 and Raging bull will always be my favorites.

Yes very fast and loose with the facts. For most of the timeline I was scratching my head like "wtf?" cause either the movie was right, or my timeline was off. Sure enough, I looked into it after the movie any many of the facts, especially with who he fought and at which time, was loose facts.

Ali was awful. Not sure why they got Will to play Ali, that was the first mistake. And he's one of my favorite actors, but I'm sure there is an actor out that could have portrayed Ali far better.

I found the infrequencies in the actual events tolerable but the movie wasn't as good as I heard altough good.

Bale and Adams put on great performances.

I watched it couple of days ago and absolutely loved it, Bale was superb as ****ie, the sunova***** even got the voice down. Feel free to bump this and quote me but Bale win win the Oscar for best supporting actor this year, there's no doubt in my mind.

As for people who expected more im not sure what it is they were hoping to see. Even before the movie hit the theatres it was clear that Gatti would not be included. The movie's timeline focused on Ward's road to fighting Sanchez and any boxing fan who knows Ward's story is not deceived into believing that Micky won some prestigious world title.

With that said it has to be there in the top 5. Rocky 1 and 2 are both classics, and raging bull is another great one. Im not really sure what inaccuracies people found in Raging Bull, the only one i can think of is that in the movie Lamotta was made to look like a middleweight George Foreman.

I thought that the most biased boxing movies ever made were Hurricaine and Cinderella man, im disgusted at the way Hollywood screwed the facts in both those movies. It's hard for me to even take those movies serious.

Someone mentioned John Voight's boxer. i thought it was a good movie but not so much about boxing at it is about father and son relationship, boxing was just an element thrown it to add emotion and dramatics to the conclusion.

anyways ill be getting the fighter on blu ray when it comes out, thumbs up.

I prefer Rocky II and I over it, but it was a good movie. I liked Raging Bull too. Maybe its just becuase im not that critical of movies haha.

Never Heard Of Million Dollar Baby. Whos it about?

I also plan on seeing cinderalla man soon.

I feel like im missing out on boxing books, because ever since i was little i had trouble with reading books. Ill be brave and pick one up one day haha.
