He wrote several guidebooks on boxing that are still very good today.

Championship Fighting is a bible for amateurs , read it a lot and it's made me appreciate Jack more then I used too and has helped a hell of a lot.

Won the title from Willard.. the same Willard who went 26rds with the great Jack Johnson before knocking out Johnson.. so calling him skill less is incorrect.

Are you claiming Johnson was not 37 and was in his prime when Willard beat him? Are you claiming Willard was not 37 and was in his prime when Dempsey beat him?

Wills, Langford, Jeanette, McVea & Wills was NOT at the Top of their Game during Dempsey's championship reign, they was all on the slide which is why there was no public demand for him to fight any of them.

Yeah let's ignore that Wills was #1 contender for almost the whole of Dempsey's reign! And of course Dempsey was lying when he said he ducked Langford. No need to ask what you'd say if Lewis avoided his #1 contender for 7 years!

Willie Meehan was never a contender.

So Dempsey was exposed by a bum who was never a contender. Even worse.

Louis Angel Firpo was a worthy challenger and fought as such in one of the greatest fights in history.

Firpo was so bad he didn't even have one dimension. A completely limited windmiller fed retreads and bums and would have KO'd Jack had the ringside press not helped him back into the ring. Wills exposed him as the bum he was. No wonder Dempsey ducked every fighter `at the top of there game`.

Yes he did. Brennan was a punchbag for a middleweight and subsequently went life and death with Dempsey. Funny that Jack picked the guy who lost every round over the guy who won every round!

Gibbons was a worthy challenger who Dempsey easily beat.

Gibbons had just lost a title eliminator to Greb, barely winning 3 of 15 rounds. Funny that Jack again chose to fight the loser! Gibbons still made Dempsey look like an amateur in one of the worst title fights ever.

Dempsey vs Tunney fights was both highly competitive and close.

Jack never "ducked" anybody. That's junk. You can't expect Jack to fight somebody when no promoter will do it, specifically Rickard, Jack's main promoter. Dempsey frequently destroyed some of the ebst black fighters around in sparring.

So to say he would beat all ATGs, even the ones who happen to be black is quite a leap. I respect the opinions of the writers and trainers of the day who claim Dempsey would beat WIlls, but writers and trainers also said that Tyson would beat Holyfield, and that Oscar would beat Pacquiao.... even the most informed historians can be dead-wrong on a pick. This is why they are writers/historians and not billionaires in Vegas.

As far as Dempsey sparring with blacks? I'll quote you....

I don't hold it against Dempsy for not defeating a black fighter. Back then things were different. If in the future boxing were to be dominated by the chinese, which could happen due to their huge population would you hold it against Robinson or Calazage for never fighting Chinese?
