If MW Greb and LHW Tunney were able to trouble him I dont see Joe having any problems whatsoever.
Merry Christmas

To say Dempsey wouldve beaten Wills or any of the other top contenders is speculation. A lot of informed historians thought Dempsey would beat Tunney and look what happened there.
Dempsey is nothing more than the Mike Tyson of the 1920's. Exciting fighter to watch, but cant win when paired against another ELITE boxer.
Sharkey, Carpentier, Levinsky are not ATG's? They were all great fighters, champions at one ponit or another, and are all in the Hall of Fame. Dempsey also beat all the good black boxers with little effort. He gave George Godfrey's, who gave Wills tough fights, hell, breaking his ribs and destroying sparring partners with regularity.
You seem to like to gloss over that Jack hadn't fought for 3 years while Tunney had been very active. You also forget that Tunney would have lost to Jack had it not been for the Long Count. Langford called Dempsey the greatest ever. As did so many boxing managers, fighters, historians in the first half of the 20th century. But I guess you're right and they are wrong because Dempsey supposedly never beat an Elite Boxer. Never mind that he beat the Heavyweight Champ who beat Jack Johnson, would've beat Tunney if not for the Long Count, beat Levinsky, beat Fred Fulton, who beat the "elite" Sam Langford, he beat Hall of Famer Carpentier, who had a disputed decision with Jeanette, he beat Sharkey, who was Heavyweight Champ and also a hall of famer. He has the most 1st round KOs in history.
The only arguement you are putting out is that Dempsey can't beat an ATG. You gloss over that he beat very good black boxers in sparring with utter ease, fought Tunney in the last fights of his career, and still would have won had it not been for the Long Count, and you seem to ignore that Dempsey beat great Hall of Fame fighters. But I guess they aren't "elite" enough. You call Demspey bad for losing fights at the end of his career. You call Tyson bad for losing at the end of his career. I guess you msut have to call Ali and Louis bad as well. Or Larry Holmes. You can't downgrade a fighter for events that happened at the end of their career. Especially Dempsey, sicne he would have beat the "elite" Tunney. You have to judge prime fightes, it's the only accurate way.
