I definitely think Lewis would train very hard and be focused to take out Tyson, and anyway I think its totally unreasonable to use that kind of logic because tyosn couldnt KO lesser fighters in the first round
it took Lewis 8rds to KO Tyson when Tyson was not even hitting him back.. it makes me laugh how there is always excuses which are accepted for Lewis downfalls..

    He never trained properly
    It was a lucky punch
    the referee counted to quickly
    it was the altitude
    He was not focused
    etc etc etc

But when it is put to Lewis fans that Tyson was a "Shell" of his former self from 13yrs previous, it is not acceptible
Rid**** Bowe ducked Lewis but Lewis did not duck Byrd & Ruiz when he had his belts stripped for not fighting the No1 contenders

And Lewis was not even close to the same fighter he had been in the late 1990s. Lewis vs. Holyfield was a far better fighter than the Lewis who fought Tyson. Plus he's older than Tyson and had fought more rounds in his career than Tyson. So let's stop pretending this was a "prime vs. shot" matchup- it wasn't.

Funny, those same kind of excuses except for the altitude issue are thrown around ad nauseum by Tyson fanbois as to why he got knocked out by Buster Douglas. That, plus the assertion that Douglas was a fighting machine who could have beaten Ali, Louis, and Liston on the same night.

Lewis was very much prime. He said himself that he was like fine wine and that he got better with age.

The fact hes older has nothing to do with 'prime' in boxing. Tyson was the champion at 20, while Lewis turned pro at 24 and wasnt the champion until he was in his 30s. Lewis may have fought more rounds, but he had lived a much healthier lifestyle than Tyson. Tyson was suffering from ring rust so Lewis fighting more rounds is actually an advantage. People with Tysons style e.g. Marciano and Frazier dont last as long as people with Lewis'.

The Lewis who fought Holyfield was nothing great so I dont see why you mention that fight. Holyfiled was way past prime and Lewis struggled with Holyfield in their rematch and most had Evander winning.

You never did tell us why you think Tyson offered Lewis step-aside money.

i have covered that dozens of times - Tyson never offered Lewis step-a-side money Don King paid Lewis step-a-side money... Lewis did not have to accept it he could easily have said NO THANKS" and went ahead and received a guaranteed career highest payday and a World Title fight.. The reason Lewis accepted was because he never fancied his chances against that version of Mike Tyson in 1996 so he waited another 6yrs unto Tyson self-destructed completely.... King never held a gun to Lewis head and made him take the money

Except there was no guaranteed world title shot because Tyson vacated the belt anyway. Tyson and King wanted Seldon and Holyfield and that's who they were going to get. Lewis was paid off to prevent legal action stalling those fights for months. As always, you twist the facts to suit your agenda or ignore them entirely.

By the way, I love how that link you sent me as evidence of Lewis ducking Jones contained the sentence "Lennox Lewis accepted $25million to fight Roy Jones Jr, but he had one obstacle in front of him and that was HBO had to put him in there against Klitschko". I'm convinced you just see whatever you want to see, especially when it comes to Lewis.

This is complete bull**** from Lennox. Tyson had a fantastic defence , head movement , could knock out with either hand, great speed and one of he great powers in heavyweight history.

Tyson is the biggest champion since muhammed lee....

Lewis faught over the hill past their primes..Tucker, Bruno, Morrison, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and got knocked out in a way no other great champion has been.

I agree, Tyson was never taken so easily by any man in his career as Lewis was. A testament to Tyson's superior defense and chin in comparison to Lewis'.

Tyson fought wars with Douglas and Holyfield before being stopped. Lewis on the other hand was sent to the ICU in just a couple of short rounds by Tyson's sparring partner and a D rated journeyman.
