Ranking Floyd Patterson Above Lennox Lewis, Can It Be Justified?

I consider Lewis to be ATG and if I had to make a list he would probably be top 5 but I'm not gonna lie, I love lennox lewis and that makes me a bit bias.

I love Patterson but that won't make me rank him as an ATG :hah9: Truth be told it Lennox's shaky beard that keeps him from cracking my ATG list. Hell, I'd objectively rank Patterson higher if he had had a better chin :chuckle9:

Which is why you deleted my post's which contained my case for ranking Patterson ahead of Lewis, yet left the posts alone which had no case whatsoever for Lewis being ranked greater than Patterson... i had a very strong inclination before i stated the case for Patterson that you would delete what i told about the career of Lennox Lewis, but if you can hairbrush over the facts that he was stripped of every belt for refusing to fight the No1 contenders then what is the point of trying to discuss boxing in this section when the moderator is a Lennox Lewis nuthugger, it beggars-belief that you cannot be consistent in your approach to boxing history and have to deny factual events so as to glorify your idol...

when i set out my stall on this thread i made sure that everything i wrote was backed up with facts and links etc my case for Patterson was water-tight.. McCoy & Scott produced not a single shred of proof to base their case for Lewis on other than height, size & weight yet i knew that you would take there side but i am cool with that at least i know where we stand in the future.

My case was for Patterson was built on title defense's, quality of opponents who was "at the top of their game", longevity & skills yet you dismissed it immediately, so i asked you to put up your case for Lewis and so far you have declined, which i put down to you not having a case to put forward.

When I first brought that up you complained it wasn't a proper way of judging fighters. You could at least be consistent. I think Lewis would last more than two minutes with Liston and he'd give Ali a harder fight than Patterson did.

You didn't answer my question: when was the last time a fighter Floyd Patterson's size dominated the heavyweight division? Was he named Floyd Patterson?

You keep going on about Lewis being stripped of the title, yet flagrantly ignore Patterson not facing his top contenders. Worse still, you even tried to pass off those guys as more deserving. Floyd just didn't have an ABC board to strip him like Lewis was.

Lewis better than Patterson? Has better wins (and more of them) despite being avoided by several of the 90s champs, was the best heavyweight of his career and would win if they fought. The same boxing experts who you cited to prove Robinson was greater than Langford even agree with me...

You have not provided one single shred of evidence to back up your case that Lewis should be ranked greater than Floyd Patterson other than size, height & weight.

Tonight David Haye vs Audley Harrison & Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito with both fights having a huge disparity in height & weight.. we will see who the victor's of both fights are.. you can say Lennox Lewis is far better than Audley Harrison of which i would agree, yet Floyd Patterson is also vastly superior in every way than David Haye... Lets see if your size, height & weight theory stands up

I see references to Lewis chin all the time but the truth is that he was only down twice in his career. I think the chin thing gets overblown. Especially when fighters like Louis, Dempsey and others get a pass for their knockdowns and KO losses. Lewis chin was tested plenty of other times in his career against fighters like Mercer, Gary Mason,Bruno, Tua, Tyson and Vitali Klitschko. Not just those two fights with Rahman and McCall where I feel those right hands would have taken out most fighters. Lewis chin wasn't on par with somebody like Ali but it was a lot stronger than Patterson's. I don't even think that's arguable.

These are your words, right? My problem with you right now is that you've tried to try me in public view with no evidence. I've NEVER deleted anything to help you with your argument whether I agree or disagree, which is why I initially told you to let it go. In fact I haven't even deleted a post of yours in this thread at all. Your standing with me outside of all things Lewis is fine with me. I'd hope that we could keep it that way.

Lennox Lewis career as champion1992-2000
a belt out of the bin in 1992 which he defended against Tucker, Jackson & Bruno before being poleaxed by McCall in 1994 then in 1997 he fought for a vacant belt against McCall in a farcical fight, defended it against 4 mediocre opponents and in 1999 fought a draw for the undisputed title against Holyfield winning a rematch on 13.11.1999
