He would have major trouble hitting. Let alone stopping him.

Floyd doesnt do that. And doesnt have the power to hurt Duran. Floyd slips away brilliantly, but he doesnt fight the way Leonard did that night. He backs up and can be trapped on the ropes. Duran was great when he had a fight on the ropes, plus he is bigger, faster and more dangerous than Castillo.
The Castillo rematch was close up until the last few rounds. I think Duran at his best would be trouble for Floyd.

Anyway, the point is that Mayweather has not moved as much as Leonard has in his entire career apart form maybe at 147. 135 and below he stood in fought. Yes, I have seen the Castillo rematch. He doesn't move that much. Certainly not as much as Leonard did. Leonard leads a lot more than Mayweather so he doesn't need to wait on them to do something. Mayweather gets his opportunities from the other guy trying to hit him, which is why he doesn't move as much as Leonard. As much as Leonard is a classic boxer, he is just as much of a straight up puncher trying to take you out.
One other big thing here. Duran and Mayweather are the same size. Leonard started at 147 and was a very big welter. The trouble he had with Leonard is as much to do with him being a big, absurdly tough welter. At LW, Duran could hurt and stay on him much easier. He was much faster as a LW etc etc.
You guys are thinking of the Duran that came in against Leonard II. It's quite a different situation against the one that was at his best at LW.Last edited by BennyST; 10-17-2010, 07:17 PM.

If he could land that explosive right hand. Then yes probably.
However, I think Floyd style/skill set is all wrong for Arguello. That I think Floyd would have beat him at 130.

They have the same reach and the speed is not even close. Which means it's far more likely that Mayweather's punches would hit the target before Arguello's would. Arguello had a very robotic, methodical style. Once it was disrupted he had problems which is why a fighter like Vilomar Fernandez was able to outbox him. And that is a something that was exposed while Arguello was in his prime. No matter how you want to look at it, this is a bad match up for Arguello. And Mayweather and Camacho are totally different. Camacho moved much more than Mayweather and had none of the same technical, defensive skills.Last edited by joseph5620; 10-18-2010, 03:25 PM.

You talk like Floyd is unhittable: He's not. Nor is he "the most skilled fighter ever" as his brainwashed KoolAid drinkers claim. I would take Whitaker's technical and defensive skills over Floyd's any day.
