Maricano was a natural talent. It's pretty obvious to watch. Sure, a story has been manufactured to portray him as Boxing's Ruddy. But that's simply not the case.

It's also not the case that Goldman was any better. We have footage from that era. There were plenty of great fighters and plenty of bad ones. It's not like everyone was a Lomachenko or Rigondeaux.

Plenty of very, very crude fighters made it very far and succeeded Pre-War.

It does help that Marciano came post-War, though. I will admit that if he had come of age anytime after JackJohnson he almost certainly wouldn't have been champion. Even Rocky himself was a failed Baseball player. Most men his age were competing in other sports.

Anyway, there's a reason Boxing has weight classes. The Laws of Physics still apply to Boxing, just as they do everything else in your physical world. Marciano, even if he bulks up, lacks the size and speed to compete with Tyson. Moore, Walcott, Charles - these guys took him to the limit.
more BS from the master blowhard... blow away I need a hindenberg... Blow away! And please more BS to fertilize the fields.

Yes Blowhard any established fact in boxing, any event was only there as a footnote until you could come along and correct the narrative! you are truly a moron.

So you say it's true? Fine, prove it!

Its an established fact, every trainer from that generation, who was there, people who researched and did articles on Marciano for Sports illustrated, and before... I don't have to prove anything! Everyone is familiar with how Marciano was small, even for the time, clumsey, relatively late of age, etc... But he could hit...

Do some light research would it kill you?

        • The idea that Marciano was “crude” is way overstated. Chuck Wepner was crude.

Marciano had a deceptive defense. He could parry, block, slip, and counter with the best of them. He had a knack as he followed through with his blows to bob out and away to his right that made it difficult for opponents to counter. Walcott felt he would hit Rocky at will but you see many times during the bout he makes Marciano miss but does not find him with counters. He is looking to counter Rocky but he is not there to be hit.

I agree. My point is that when he was discovered, he had those traits. He was taught, he adapted and developed a style that was indeed deceptive defensively, etc.

That's the thing. I've done lots of research. That's another word that you don't know the meaning of.

Of course, because you say other people said something that makes it true. I've heard that Ponzi scheme applied before, it's called Karate.

              • Tyson ktfo Marciano. Marciano would be a light heavyweight and cruiserweight in the modern era.

This. Marciano had his *****, but plenty of fighters do. Compare him to almost anyone Louis fought and he's just as skilled... but differently.

It's a shame Backtracking isn't an Olympic sport. You'd be a Gold medalist of the Micharl Phelps kind.

You showed yourself... your exposed. Basic bottom line: Someone who does not know a basic concept in boxing is not worth my time...

See other post. Start to do some research and we can discuss.
