On top of that, none of this shows he was a better fighter, or that Willard was a better fighter than Holmes opponents, which was the argument at hand.
    - - Held the White Boxing Association title equivalent to WBA champs Lar always ducked.

When Lar was 21 he was busy in diapers making his 3 round debut.

Johnson wanted to fight McCarty and and his mgr jumped on the opportunity.

    I feel bad 4 U.

Now the "white heavyweight championship" was the equivalent of the WBA? Sure Queenie, whatever you say. All the ABC orgs have their problems, but at least they didn't freeze out black fighters because they were afraid to lose their superiority complex.

And what does age matter when talking about a fighters place in history? Second most title defenses to only the great Joe Louis. Undefeated for 48 fights. Tell me again about Willard and McCarty's records and the fighters they beat?

McCarty clearly stated he would NEVER fight Johnson. He never stated he would and NOTHING was lined up. You really like to rewrite history, don't you? Or do you just enjoy lying?

        - - Black/Colored champions freezing out White fighters...priceless.

Anyone could fight for the Mexican Title, and near everyone did.

Luck had a seminal boxing manager who lined up a JJohnson fight who was willing to turn himself over to the legal authorities just to fight Luck who was the biggest name in boxing at that point. Luck never had it so good until his luck ran out.

        • He is top 10 no debate.

Holmes is probably the most underrated champion of all time.

As i look at my top 10. I favor him over at least 7 of them

No, no, no, lots of debate. Jab and Queen meet once every month just to roll around in the mud with each other. See above; come back next month.

OK, OK I get it, it's not a Dempsey-Wills level debate, but nevertheless it's a debate.

P.S. Oh wait! I almost forgot, you're wrong!

Who's talking about the Mexican title? Fact is, black weren't allowed to fight for the "white" heavyweight title, which was made up because insecure rednecks like yourself couldn't stand the fact Johnson was the true and only heavyweight champion.

There was no Johnson fight lined up. You have a manager saying one thing, with no contract. Your own article says that NOTHING was signed after Pelkey. No where does McCarty say or confirm any of this. He does however say he'll never fight a negro after winning the "white " heavyweight championship.

And none of this shows McCarty or Willard to be better fighters than those I named, which you have conveniently steered the conversation away from. Take, take, tsk.......even when you try to use misdirection you still come off looking foolish.

                - - Mexican title historically by then open to all comers no matter race or nationality.

It weren't McCarty freezing out the great Black era of fighters, it was JJ, and McCarty was lined up to fight him after beating some of those great black fighters.

I know U ABC/123 challenged, but I weren't around then though I certainly would wish to be. Folks was a lot smarter and more civilized than U.

Already on record as stating Willard and McCarty would whoop U boys...The End

The Mexican title isn't the heavyweight championship, and neither was the bogus "WHITE" title made up by insecure little men like yourself. McCarty was a world champion then as much as the IBC champ is world champion today.

There was nothing lined up. No contract, nothing except McCarty saying hed never fight a negro.

Please, do te these "great" black fighters McCarty beat!

Yes, you're on record stating something and proving nothing. Have another drink you old rummy.
