No. Vits NEVER sought a rematch even though he said he would after losing g in Germany. Byrd openly wondered why Vits never came looking to avenge the loss. You will hear excuses about King and how wlad beat Byrd. But the fact is Vit fought a month after the Byrd -Wlad fight, a fight that could have been his if he wanted it. And even if it couldn't have been they were ranked numbers 1 and 2 the next several years with no attempt from Vits to make this fight.

Maybe he didn’t want to be frustrated again by Byrd’s style. Despite being ahead in the fight he wasn’t having a good time in there with Byrd’s slick movement.

That's what I think as well. But whatever the case he never looked to avenge that loss. So why is that ok, but it not ok for Lewis to retire, and stay retired, after a win? The Klitschko fans conundrum!!!

I agree with what you’re saying especially with the extended info given but in reality it doesn’t even matter. The two careers are night and day.

Lewis could have flat out ducked the rematch it still wouldn’t change the fact he beat Vitali fair and square. It’s not like it was a robbery or something of that nature. Would a rematch have been cool? Sure but it wasn’t necessary.

The fans of Vitali can be butthurt over it until they’re blue in the face but it doesn’t matter. He lost, and their careers are no where even close to comparable.

Klit fans like to point out that Lewis retired without giving Vits a rematch, even though his plans were always to retire. So why do they not get on Vits for not rematching Byrd who he lost to even though both were closely ranked for years, and for not fighting his number one contender Hasim rahman? The Rahman fight was set several time's only to have Vits back out because of supposed injury. In one instance he said he couldn't fight and it fell apart only to have Vits fight a month after the proposed date. So why is this OK with Klitschko fans but they try to take Lewis done a peg even though he won? The Klitschko conundrum.

Wlad isn't Vits. Vits ducked his WBC mandatory against Rahman. Several times.

I enjoyed both Klitschkos I still view their Era as weak but Lennox had nothing to prove. Vitali injured his shoulder. Byrd got paid alot of money to go back to Europe six months later and fight Wlad. To be honest Vitali went on a bum tour until the Lennox fight so idk why he didn't get the rematch against Byrd. After the Lennox fight Vitali was bigger than the rematch with Byrd so I can see why he didn't want to go down memory lane.

What I admire about Vitali is that he wasn't a coward like Lennox Lewis or Holyfield. He didn't need performance enhancing drugs like Holyfield. He also didn't duck a rematch with Lewis after beating the stuffing out of Lewis for the duration of the fight. Unfortunately his skin didn't hold up which was probably due to a headbutt.

Lewis skin is genetically different so it's understandable that he didn't receive the same damage from the headbutt.
