Had never thought of a Liston/Jefferies bout before, but I like that match. Tomorrow I might give an entirely different list. But Dempsey/Marciano would still be there, since I consider it the main heavy weight mythical match to answer a lot of questions and be highly entertaining as long as it lasted.
Only two e's inJeffries. But good choices!

Corbett-Johnson (1892/1909) Who was the better technician? Could be boring but still intense, e.g. Leonard-Benetiz. 25 rounds

Ali-Tyson (1967/1989) The perfect style contrast. 15 rounds

Dempsey-Marciano (1921/1952) Irresistible force meets an immovable object.10 rounds

Holyfield-Louis (1994/1942) If Louis was 'Joe Louis' he should be able to stop the powerful (roided) Holyfield; if Louis was not 'Joe Louis' it would tell us much about past fighters not being able to compete today. 15 rounds

Tex Cobb-Willard (1982/1915) Two immovable objects with neither being an irresistible force. Could be a clown show, or could be one of the most brutal prize fights ever. 45 rounds.

Ali v Tyson- for the same reason we all know
Louis v Holyfield- for the exact reason Pep perfectly explained above
Liston v Foreman- monster v monster
Marciano v Fury- this would answer a lot of questions
Dempsey v Lewis- I think Lewis is more skilled, but I think Dempsey can get to that chin.....

To add another- Wilder v Baer in a battle of two somewhat sloppy but devastating heavyweights

Yeah I view these two as being very similar and almost equals. Both could land a jab when needed to find range, both utilized mediocre defense but had good reflexes to move out of range when needed. Both weighed in around the same in their primes. And obviously, both had dynamite right hands.

I think the one slight edge is Wilder had about 3 inches in height and 2 inches in reach, and he often used his length to his advantage when in his prime

                      - - Prime Tyson walks thru prime Ali like a hot knife thru butter. Dempsey and Louis would also, ie Ali could only run around for so long before they corner him, especially if they all fought in Dempsey/Louis 6 oz gloves.
