If they had all been prime, and Marciano prime too,[there is some justification for saying he wasn't for Louis,] would any of the results in their fights with Rocky have been different, and if so , in what way?

If Charles,Walcott,Louis,Moore Had Been Prime?

I think there is a chance of:
1: Louis cutting rock up and dropping him a few times
2: Charles running away with a decision
I do think (my opinion, not fact) that Marciano still knocks Louis out, even after catching a beating. And I also think if Charles grabbed a decision, he still takes a beating and gets stopped in the rematch.
on paper, in any era - charles is a nightmare for Rocky. Tunney would be a difficult matchup as well, and guys like Loughran. Anyone who can move and stay away effectively will at least trouble the short limbed Marciano.
in my opinion anyone who wants to slug with him he getâÂÂs hurt bad, including George Foreman and Dempsey - with a Langford match being a back and forth bloodbath resulting in injuries on both sides. This is my opinion.
random thought:
Also, I give Greb a good shot. Grebs insane speed and slickness in contrast with Marcianos brawling mentality might actually result in Greb skirting a decision as well. If he doesnât get his ribs Broken. Greb at his best is 157 lbs, and likely extremely strong for his weight. Marcianos best weight is 187. Not that size means much in this scenario.
the main thing with Marciano is you donât want to take his shots flush. He doesnât punch like other fighters. Heâs strong from head to toe and torques his shots like a baseball bat. This is what makes him punch so hard. His conditioning makes him impossible to actually hurt. Forget that he was dropped a few times, usually from clumsyness - but his legs were never weak at any point in his career. He stumbles like a bear, his conditioning and recooperation make him almost impossible to get rid of. Ali said it best “the toughest fight for me would be the hardest man to knockout, and thats Rocky Marciano”Last edited by them_apples; 07-01-2025, 12:35 PM.

I'd say a prime Louis would probably beat a prime Rock, I'd make him a solid favorite.
Prime Charles was a Light Heavyweight, and though I feel he was P4P better than Rock, I think the 15 lb weight difference, combined with a bad style matchup, gives Rock the edge to win.
Prime Arch- similar to Charles situation
Walcott's hard to figure as his boxing prime came so much later than his physical prime. It wasnt until he was in his 30s that he started to train to be a boxer full time. He had a big enough lead going into the 13th round that if he wouldve just stayed away and given away each of the rounds he would've kept the title on a draw. But being a few years younger wouldn't have made him better at recognizing this. I doubt the more prime version of him does any better than what he did in that first fight.

Ez was always a talent with a 20-8-1, 4 KO HOF record. Sadly he had to hang on too long since Boxing was the best job he had.
Archie was something of a painfully slow learner, but when he matured, he had the perfect skillset and punch to hang on at a high level. He was mentored and managed by Jack Dempsey for a while...DeeMoney likes this.
