Anyway, to get Dempsey back into the ring, Tex offered Dempsey a warm up fight to shake off the rust and offered Wills a fight vs Tunney in one of boxing earliest eliminator tourneys, but Wills turned him down to promptly get beat up by Sharkey and then DQed for backhanding the whole fight after repeated ref warnings, so Sharkey got the Dempsey warmup.

That first Tunney fight had Dempsey getting deaththreats such that his camp looked more like an arsenal of a Marine platoon. Hollywood Gossip Columnist Luella Parsons was good friends with Estelle dropped by and was appalled. Dempsey looked terrible, and worse while traveling to the ring. He had lumps under his armpits and had to be carried upright to his dressing room after vomiting several times on the way. He needed help undressing and putting on his ring garb.

As it turned out, one of Dempsey's new hires Mike Trent didn't show the day of the fight and was shown making two calls to Chicago where a mobster Frankie Pope put down $500K on Tunney. Dempsey mentions his Olive Oil he used for digestion without directly saying he was drugged because he didn't want Tunney to be slandered for being a part of their racket.

    - - A reminder for the usual suspects.

You can correct him a dozen times,he will still repeat the same horse**** over and over again.
I admit he used to annoy me,now I see him like Boxed Ears on ESB.
But not funny and certainly not as amusing.
His idea of a cutting response is some garbled pidgin baby talk insult.
      He's harmless but irrelevant.

Get ready for a 100 pages of Dempsey bashing, anonymous sources and recycled hatred from our resident race-baiter. His racist buddy whose posts he likes got a lot of his posts removed, he’s a bit salty now.

The public wanted it. In a 1922 poll of some 500 newspapers nationwide, Harry

Wills was selected as the the boxer that people most wanted to see heavyweight

champ Jack Dempsey fight. He got 131,073 votes; second place was 6,000. The

problem was, Dempsey had drawn the “color line” in 1919 after winning the title,

citing deadly riots after the Jack Johnson – James J. Jeffries fight in 1910.

In 1925, the New York State Athletic Commission gave Dempsey an ultimatum:

fight Wills, or find another state to fight in. He chose the latter. Another match

fell through in 1926. When Dempsey lost to Gene Tunney that year, and Wills,

then 37, lost as well, talks of the match ended, as did Wills’ shot at the title

The events you are talking about must have been after Dempsey already lost the championship. Wills was contracted to fight Dempsey and Dempsey broke it to fight Tunney, and lost. It was after that when Wills lost to Sharkey by DQ.

So if at that time Wills was offered a fight with Tunney, that would mean Rickard was offering him a fight for the Championship. We all know that didn't happen. When Dempsey fought Sharkey, Dempsey wasn't the champion.
              - - - - Apologies. I thought you already knew of the dates involved in all those fights as most of us already do...c'est la vie...

Relax, I’m not referring to you Mr. Paranoid. It’s your little sister on here who knows exactly who she is. A race obsessed snake who slithers out of her hole anytime there is a chance to bash Dempsey or defend Johnson/Wills/Mayweather unconditionally.

Thanks for another copy and paste lecture. Wills hadn’t fought anyone worthy of a title shot in ‘22. Dempsey himself didn’t draw the color line. He was under contract to Kearns and Rickard. Newspaper polls and fans don’t dictate opponents, otherwise Johnson would have given title shots to Langford, Jeannette and McVey. They all insisted he didn’t, despite what your incorrect sources claim. Mayweather once started a poll for who he should fight next; Maidana or Khan…fans overwhelmingly chose Khan yet he went with Maidana who was robbed in their first fight.

I'd like to know who is a racist?

                      Who is a race baiter?,

                      Who got his posts removed?

Will you answer my questions please?

When you make accusations its customary to put names to those accused.

Will you now do that? Second time of asking.
