    - - McCarty already owned the white title when Johnson contacted McCarty and the judge in his Mann Conviction trying to make that fight.

I post source and date while U pull shyte outta U posterior.

Dempsey made the perfunctory statement he would never fight a black boxer for the title, yet agreed several times to fight Wills that is also heavily documented.

Well, of course regressive Anthropoids don't need sources to rattle that dingleberry pinging inside their skull...

We can debate all day whether he would have met him or not. Was there a contract? What we have are his own words and no proof this fight would EVER happen.

These threds that take on their own life, often driven by barbs and insults. Even the worst of them have their tidbits.

Anyhow.....McCarty had already fought Al Withers & Jeff Clark who were black, so....

Boxing history was truly cheated by McCarty's untimely death. He was a genuine natural, fought a fair number of off the record hard spars learning, and was certainly one of the best in the world by mid 1913.
A 1914-15 showdown with Jack Johnson would have been a pick-em' match, and unlike the July 4, 1910 edition, would have provided a very worthy fight of the century.

All from a photo that McCarty isn't even in!

We've had a thread about fighters who didnt quit, closed in which a poster made multiple hate posts about Jack Johnson, without mentioning anyone else, but rambled on about wife beating ,freemasonry.devil worship and all sorts of irrelevant garbage.

There are certainly some fixated loonies around!

He had fought a couple other black fighters. But once he got his hands on the "white" championship he had no intention of doing so again, at least as long as he held it. Not uncommon in the day unfortunately. History was certainly cheated by his death i agree.

              - - It was a public agreement as demonstrated in the papers, so git thee a new minder who can read to U. McCarty died a few days later before JJ could ever make it to America.

A public agreement yet neither were within 500 miles of one another. Is that correct? So no paperwork, venue etc?

Kaufman was a very low skilled fighter, even for a " white hope " of his time. Jack Johnson laughed at his lack of skill at ringside watching him fight, then fought him for a no decision for his fight next.

He was only Ko'd six times.

McCarthy was just starting to put it all together. He was only 21 when he died. Big, skilled, fast handed and a good hitter, he would have taken Johnson by 1914 and would have given Dempsey an " L " in his pre title days.

One of boxing all time could have been's..

He is one of the few heavies I have not seen on film. I am not sure if there is any film of him around today.

But, having never seen him fight, you are sure he would have beaten Johnson in1914 and later Dempsey?

                      Yeah ok.LOL
