The documentary he created on Sonny is absolute perfection.

I must have watched it 25 times.

I also agree the legbreaking stories are bollocks.

The heavyweight champion of the world turns up at someone's house to bust them up?
Yeah you are spot on I think. But I have heard over the years the incredible contrast of men with amazing fame doing the most low down things that no one can understand why. I guess it is like rappers not been real if they don't go back and stay in the hood at times. i guess it is hard to break the habits of a lifetime.

The thing with Charles is that he genuinely wanted to be a good man, a role model and wanted to work with disadvantaged children.

He was never given the chance.

How times change - Tyson the thug, old lady mugger, rapist and cannibal is worshipped like a god.

Class acts like Lennox, the brothers, Fury (he winds people up but is actually a decent bloke) and Usyk just do their talking in the ring.

I agree with all of that you said cept iron mike. I am a huge fan of his and followed his rise to the top as a kid and he had a heartbreaking childhood and he has tried for the last twenty years to help others and I think after what he faced as a kid and the hurt he carried it was no wonder he got into some trouble.
Liston, I recall, tried so hard like you said to become a role model but the media liked to portray him as a nasty monster and it hurt him just like his childhood hurt him. I remember seeing a doc about ali and him and he had something like 18 siblings and had it as hard as any kid can have it especially with the way black men and women were made to feel like dirt by the rest at the time.
I think that lewis is probably the greatest. I know people wont agree with me but lewis beat so many men while they were at their peak and his only two losses were lucky punches. The Rahman punch looked like he was totally fooling and letting it happen. I thought maybe it was a bet he had as he just let him hit him.
I've known fury since he was a boy and I am so proud to be his friend. Nothing anyone can say would make me dislike fury as to me, he is just so like me both with bipolar and both went through identical mental health problems and both are deeply in love with our women. Fury has a heart of gold and he loves to spread the word on mental health and he helps people. He also helped me through a very hard time in my life and I helped him too. I told him on a train when he was 14 that he would be heavyweight champion and he did it! A very uplifting guy and he treats men with dignity never belittles you or talks down to you he is a very special person in my mind.

Sonny was actually the 24th of 25 children.

l really admire Fury, I have had my own brutal mental demons to slay too and still do.

          An endless battle for survival.

A really top bloke though, what a mate to have!

The next time you see him please say hello to the champ for me, (my real name is Phil).

As for Lennox when fully focused he was utterly devastating and perhaps the only heavy the '67 version of Ali would be be in real danger of defeat from.

          Good commentator too.

            • I also like Fury. I can relate to him as i have had mental health problems since school. I was hoping he would win the usyk rematch.

I disagree - keeping things hidden totally destroys you.

I should know believe me but where you grow up defines you.

'Real man' my arse - took me decades.

Fury showed you can have mental problems and still be a decent, strong bloke.

                  Good for him.

I know as exactly what sort of man he is and you are very lucky to know him.

My late parents (RIP) knew too, they were from very tough but decent upbringings and were great judges of character.

Not by long but they both lived to see Tyson send Wilder into the shadowland in the final fight.

Although at only 5ft 8 I would have to crane my neck to talk to the legend!
