Boxing or wrassling?Sorry could not resist. Some here will get the pn hopefully.
Ok seriously. Fact of the matter is: lewis beat a lot of fighters who held a lot of promise... Grant was touted, Razor Ruddock was going to destroy him, Shannon Briggs was a very hot prospect when Lewis fought him... Was Ibeabuchi, what we know of him really much better at the time than what we thought of these prospects?
I say this as a reformed Ibeabuchi fan... Like Liston the man was seemingly crafted to be a heavyweight fighter, and his abilities to hang in there, to punch hard, and to keep coming forward... But lewis has actual experience on his side and if you read the glowing reports on Briggs for example, or Golota, etc... Was the president truly better?
I think Ike stands out to many because of his slugfest with Tua. Tua was starting to set himself apart from the other prospects at that time having beaten several at that point. It was a good win for Ibeabuchi. But he still never fought a big heavyweight with experience. I just cant say he would brat a former heavyweight champion and all time great baded on two fights against other prospects
Speaking of Ike....he's got a fight scheduled for December 7th this year.Comment

There several hot prospects at that time. In fact I remember the cover of either zKO or the Ring featuring several of the up and comers.

I was born in 86 buds, I believed in Ike.
He was good at all ranges, tough as they come, and if he hit you with his sledgehammer fists he'd knock ya from Vegas to London.
I'm bias in his favor probably because I was impressed at an impressionable age, but I'd say it's a GD shame his people couldn't control him a little better. He was an animal, handled right he could have been a champion.Comment

I'd go with Lennox, though I'm not 100% comfortable with the pick. I thought Ibeabuchi had the goods to be a great, but we never got to see it through his own fault. I could speculate all day, but without Ike proving his quality in the ring I can't credit him with goods to beat Lennox.Comment

Lennox is always going to have doubters in fantasy match ups because of his two KO losses.
I’m no fan of Lennox, but I think he proved his chin is far from glass and can take a good punch many times throughout his career against some real concussive punchers, so I don’t think that’s fair.
Lennox is the obvious pick for me in this fight.Comment

I was a fan until the first Field fight where he acted like he was scared to lift the title off Field who was otherwise helpless.Comment
