Ali was very confident in his ability to take a punch at that stage.
Just uploaded the first Joe Brown vs Wallace 'Bud' Smith fight. I uploaded the third one previously. Recommended viewing for anyone who wants to know more about this forgotten LW champ.

Gamboa vs Mtagwa
Round 1 Gamboa 10/8
Clear round for Gamboa where he scored a KD at the
end of the round and landed quite a few nice left hooks and a couple
of right hands. Mtagwa caught with his head in the air.
Much of the same from Gamboa as he dropped
Mtagwa again and was back to nailing him with
pretty much everything he threw. I particularly like the
way Gamboa goes to the body and brings his punches up
he did it here and it seems to be a trait of his as i remember
him Ko'ing Al Seeger by doing this, one negative is that he
does seem to swing his hooks little wide when he goes with
both hands.
Slightly debatable stoppage although i would not argue that much
because Mtagwa was hit with pretty much everything Gamboa was
throwing, plus he was hurt when Smoger waved the fight off.Last edited by Dynamite Kid; 01-24-2010, 02:46 PM.

Montell Griffin vs Glen Johnson
Round 1 Johnson
Johnson was more consistent and landed some
chopping right hands on Griffin who scored sporadically
with the odd counter but was too inactive
Round 2 Griffin
Better round for Griffin as he was more active and
nailed Johnson with a very nice counter uppercut(clean)
Johnson switched off a little mid round and allowed Griffin
to take this imo.
Round 3 Griffin
Steady pressure by Johnson but Griffin was more active
and landed the cleaner punches, he is doing a nice job of
of moving off to the side and not going straight back, he is
essentially trying to keep Johnson turning.
Round 4 Johnson
Johnson picked up mid round and was also landing the
harder punches in this round
Round 5 Griffin (very close swing round)
Griffin was allowed to get off first and imo just! about
landed the cleaner shots of the round, Johnon was
his usual consistent self but he did not seem that accurate
with his punches to me, although this could easily of gone
to him also. Griffin cut in this round to.
Round 6 Johnson
The cut seems to be bothering Griffin as he seemed to get away
from what he was doing where as Johnson turned up the
heat and nailed him with some hard punches in this round,
particularly at the end where he landed a clean right on
Griffin that seem to buckle him momentarily.
Round 7 Johnson
Excellent round by Johnson landing clean hard shots, Griffin
is starting to wear down imo, Johnson has been ****ing the
body hard at times so maybe that has something to do with it.
Round 8 Johnson
Steady stream of constant pressure from Johnson as he chips
away at Griffin with these shot jolting shots, Griffin's pace
has dropped last few rounds and he looks like he is starting to
wilt
Round 9 Johnson
Round 10 Johnson
A lof of Griffins punches missed in this round whilst
Glen nailed him with some looping right hands dug some
left to the body underneath.
Griffin landed some counters early in this round but it seemed
to wake Johnson up and he turned up the heat and started
nailing Griffin to the body and head, he was all over Griffin,
Griffin's corner wanted the fight stopped, Griffin complained
and rightly so i thought. I dont feel Griffin was badly hurt and
he deserved to hear the last bell for his efforts.
Glen Johnson is just a pitbul. I knew this anyway but he just amazes you the way he constantly chips away at you he just want leave you alone he picks off your shots with his gloves and makes you fight, plus you cant hurt seem hurt the mofo. Great performance by the Road Warrior, Griffin
looked good also but only early on when Johnson ramped up the pace
and ****** the body he started to fade.
Griffin did a nice job of keeping Johnson turning early and he showed good
ring generaliship early as he countered and used the angles but Glen's momentum
is just too much.

Ramon Ronquillo vs Michael Spinks
Round 1
Ronquillo came out aggresive and scored to the body and nailed
Spinks with a right hand on by the ropes, Spinks
came back a bit and it was a relatively close round untill
Spinks backed him up at the end and got the jab connecting
Round 2 Spinks
Good competitive round where both had their moments but Spinks
was the one landing hard clean blows, left hook is the main punch
that seems to be landing more often than not for Spinks
Round 3 Spinks
Another competitive round like the second but like the second one
that was clearly won by Spinks as he was nailing Ronquillo with
hard clean shots he scored a nice uppercut on Ronquillo that look
like it may have hurt imo and he was landing that left hook again
when ever he threw it
Round 4 Spinks
Spinks was stuffing Ronquillo with jab this round and was the more active
Round 5 Spinks
Big round for Spinks where he nailed Ronquillo many hard clean punches so
much so i thought he was about to force a stoppage, Ronquillo showed his
toughness to hang in their under Spinks two fisted assault
Round 6
Ronquillo took a lot of punishment in this round and im shocked that he did not
go down because Spinks hit him with his hardest punches and kept the pressure
on him throughout the whole round.
Fight stopped on TKO as Ronquillo's eye was judged to bad to continue.

I just got done watching Sammy Hernandez-Billy Rey, it was a two round amatuer fight held at the Olympic Auditorium some time during the 70's and this has got to be one of the sloppiest, untechnical brawls I have ever seen.
Thses guys made Bazooka Limon look like Willie Pep in there, hell, they made Kimbo Slice look like a disciplined boxer-puncher. It was amazing how when the bell rang both men seemed to simultaniously lose all sense of balance only to hurl themselves into each other flailing wildly. It was however a pretty entertaining fight if you can look past all that and Hernandez won the decision.

Juanma vs Luevano
Round 1 Juanma
Juanma landed the clean punches, Luevano's punches
did not connect
Round 2 Luevano
Luevano just edge this round imo
Round 3 Juanma
Juanma on his aggression and harder punches
Round 4 Juanma
Juanma really got a momentum going in this round
he is starting to put the pressure on Luevano more
and more and finding the target
Round 5 Luevano
Luevano edge him out down the stretch imo
Round 6 Juanma
Overwhelming Luevano with aggression/pressure
and his hard punches
Juamna catches Luevano pulling out with an uppercut that
wobbles Luevano, he then stepped inside and put Luevano
down as the ref deemed Luevano to badly hurt to continue
he waved it off. I think it was a little premature but Luevano
prolly would of got stopped anyway had the ref let Juanma
get back at him. Luevano would not have won a decision either
because Lopez was in control and getting stronger
where as Luevano looked to be getting more and more dominated
as the rounds wore on.
Luevano is a converted right hander so his power is all in his right hand and
you could kinda see that as he did not see to have a straight left to halt
Juamna from walking him down and putting the pressure on him, Luevano
thought he could keep Lopez at bay with jab and the odd counter punch, Luevano
is a singles man when it comes to throwing punches and that is not gonna stop
someone like Lopez coming.
