  • Jorge Arce vs Angky Angkota

    Round 1 Angky Angkota

Arce got countered with most of the clean effective
    punches.

    Round 2 Jorge Arce

Clear round for Arce as he landed most of the clean punches by
pinning Angky Angkota on the ropes the whole round
    and ****ing him.

    Round 3 Jorge Arce

Jorge Arce same as the last round Angkota in the corner
taking shots and not able to get off the ropes.

    Round 4 Jorge Arce

Jorge Arce continuing to beat Angkota in the corner, Angkota
can get out if he wants be he seems content to languish there

    Round 5 Jorge Arce

    Beating Angkota up again

    Round 6 Jorge Arce

More of the same Arce beating Angkota up again

Fight stopped on a cut. That was a good ole fashioned beat down
of Angkota, he did well in the first round but he spent the
rest of the fight trying to unsuccessfully fight off the ropes,
Arce beat the **** out of him whilst he was on the ropes.

Alfonso Lopez (Ricardo Lopez's son) vs Sergio Cruz

    Round 1 Lopez

Lopez straight shot took this round he got a litte but he clearly landed the
    cleaner right hands.

    Round 2 Lopez

Not much action but Lopez may have just edge it.

Lopez landed some clean right hands on Sergio Cruz and he seemed a little hurt
not to want to continue as the ref waved it off.

A very straight puncher just like his father, fights like his father and looks almost
    exactly like him.

    • Carlos Tamara vs Brian Viloria

      Round 1 Brian Viloria

Not much happened but Brian Viloria just about won it on the jabs to head & body

      Round 2 Carlos Tamara

Viloria started well countering Carlos Tamara but Carlos Tamara came back to
carry most of the round and dictate the action imo, although it was a close
round that could of gone either way.

      Round 3 Brian Viloria

Extremely close round that could of gone either way but i felt Brian Viloria just
about countered enough to take the round.

      Round 4 Brian Viloria

Good round for Brian Viloria, Tamara started well and was consistent the whole
round but Viloria came back and hurt him to the body and then committed himself
to the body attack and took it to Tamara who seemed winded by one of the body
shots, he also landed a couple of head shots did Viloria. Carlos Tamara languished
inside and gave up his height in this round so the smaller Viloria had success.

      Round 5 Carlos Tamara

Carlos Tamara reverted back to keeping it long and dictated the round imo.

      Round 6 Carlos Tamara

Carlos Tamara was more active and landed consistently throughout, Tamara
decided to go back inside and give up his reach but he did a better job in this round
than he did of it in round 4,Viloria is waiting too long to counter
and its effecting his activity in the fight.

      Round 7 Carlos Tamara

Carlos Tamara pressured Viloria in this round and landed more clean punches and
was more consistent over the round, Viloria landed a nice counter toward the end but
he was too inactive to take the round

      Round 8 Brian Viloria

Brian Viloria more active in this round as he countered inbetween Tamara's shots
he also hurt Tamara toward the end of the round.

      Round 9 Carlos Tamara

Carlos Tamara back to pressuring Viloria, Tamara seems to shut Viloria's offence
down when he puts the pressure on him however the key to the pressure is that
he not languishing inside he pressuring Viloria behind his jab so he can maintain
      distance.

      Round 10 Carlos Tamara

Another good round for Carlos Tamara as he continued to pressure Viloria and
have success, Viloria cant handle it when Tamara pressures him from behind the jab,
Tamara just will not be denied, he is showing how much he wants this title.

      Round 11 Carlos Tamara

Carlos Tamara digging so deep here and deserves to win this fight for the heart
determination he is showing, Tamara had Viloria in trouble in this round and
dictated the whole round by consistently throwing and putting Viloria on the
      defensive. Excellent fight.

Tamara was winning round big as Viloria faded badly in this round as was actually
falling on the floor outta exhaustion, Tamara just kept stepping on the gas and
at one point pinned Vilioria on the ropes and was raining punches on the visibly tired
Viloria, Viloria did not seem hurt but just completely shattered and exhausted as the
ref stepped in to call it off, you could make a case that the ref could of allowed it to go
on and Viloria might well of stayed on his feet imo, but he was losing anyway.
Tamara really deserved this win as he fought like a bat outta hell and really
dug down deep and showed great heart/determination and stamina.

Viloria is a counter puncher and the problem he had in this fight is that he was
fighting a skilled opponent who had a reach advantage on him, that meant that
Tamara did not have to step inside to land. The shorter Viloria needs you to step
inside so he can capitalize and counter your shots so when Tamara kept it long
Viloria was not that active as he was waiting for the opportunity's to counter, Tamara
did step inside in the 4th round and coincidentally Viloria had his best round and
hurt Tamara to the body, Tamara went back to keeping it long on the next round
and took the session, that said in round 6 Tamara decided to go back inside with
Viloria and he did much better job in this round and took the round. Down the
stretch of the fight Tamara seemed to realize
that the best way to apply pressure was not to fight inside with Viloria but to
pressure him from behind the jab where he could maintain distance and still
pressure Viloria, that seemed to shut Viloria's offence down everytime.
Tamara showed loads of heart in this fight and just would not be denied, oh and
      Tamara's stamina was amazing.

        Round 1 Beibut Shumenov

Clear round for Beibut Shumenov, more aggressive &
        more active.

        Round 2 Beibut Shumenov

Beibut Shumenov was more aggressive and consistent
throughout and he landed couple of hard right hands,
Gabriel Campillo was making an argument that he was gonna
take the round but Beibut Shumenov came back and closed
it out and did more over the 3 min

Round 3 Gabriel Campillo (very close)

Close competitive round but i went for Gabriel Campillo
because Gabriel Campillo head shots are were more
effective than Beibut Shumenov's body shots although some
might score this for Beibut Shumenov as he was consistent
with his attacks, albeit with less quality imo.

        Round 4 Gabriel Campillo

Beibut Shumenov started well and landed some good body
shots but Gabriel Campillo took over mid round and
clearly landed the better punches of the round to take it on
        my card

Round 5 Beibut Shumenov (Very close) great fight

Another very close round that i felt Beibut Shumenov just
about edged as he was more consistent and closed better.

        Round 6 Gabriel Campillo

Beibut Shumenov was consistent again but he tired down the
stretch and this time his punches did not have the same pop
on them plus he was getting painted with the cleaner punches
        by Gabriel Campillo

Round 7 Beibut Shumenov (very hard to score for me)

I just felt Beibut Shumenov answered all Gabriel Campillo's
        attacks and was more active

        Round 8 Gabriel Campillo

Gabriel Campillo's best round as he was consistently landing
the cleaner punches throughout, Beibut Shumenov's workrate
        dropped dramatically in this round

        Round 9 Gabriel Campillo

Huge round for Gabriel Campillo as he took target practice
on Shumenov, Shumenov was hit with everything but
the kitchen sink. Tremendous double jabs and combos from
        Campillo.

        Round 10 Gabriel Campillo

Gabriel Campillo did the cleaner work as apose to Shumenov who was
active but missed a many of his punches and was not that effective landing
        imo, although he was busy.

        Round 11 Gabriel Campillo

Shumenov was very active in the round but his defence let him
down as Gabriel Campillo nailed him with cleaner more
        accurate shots.

        Round 12 Gabriel Campillo

Same as the 11th where by
Shumenov was very active in the round but his defence let him
down as Gabriel Campillo nailed him with cleaner more
        accurate shots.

Terrific fight. I felt the difference in the fight was Gabriel Campillo's accuracy, even
when Shumenov worked hard in some rounds he still lost the round because his
defence let him down, he would take the cleaner punches from Gabriel Campillo
and whilst he was active at times his shots were wild and not clean scoring
punches. Head shots also take superiority of body punches to imo, so even when
Shumenov was landing to the body you had to favour
Gabriel Campillo's head shots that were snapping his head
back at times. I have no problem scoring for body shots but
head shots take precedent over them when scoring.

Gabriel Campillo put his punches together beautifully at times particularly like the
way he would jab Shumenov then bring an uppercut from underneath and close
the combo with a right hook.

No ****ing way! Shumenov won that fight.

        ---------------------------------------------------------

        Erislandy Lara vs Grady Brewer

        Round 1 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara was more active & landed the straight left
to the body and head and a nice uppercut, Brewer largely inactive

        Round 2 Erislandy Lara
Not much to choose from as Lara was a bit inactive whilst
Brewer upped his workrate his shots were ineffective landing,
Lara landed the cleaner shots imo so........

        Round 3 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara took this session on the straight lefts he landed
not much from Brewer is actually landing.

        Round 4 Grady Brewer

Good round for Grady Brewer he nailed Lara with a right
hook that seemed to hurt Lara, although Lara nailed him with
a counter when he stepped inside to press, however right before
the end of the round Grady Brewer clearly stunned Lara with another
right hook that had Lara on shaky legs as he went back to the corner.

        Round 5 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara economical in this round but still got the straight lefts through
and was more accurate and landed the cleaner work imo, although he
was not that active Brewer is not landing clean scoring punches imo.

        Round 6 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara landed his straight left quite a few times early in the round, Brewer
got cut mid round and the cut seemed to be bothering imo.

        Round 7 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara landing the cleaner work.

        Round 8 Grady Brewer

Lara switched off this round and Brewer took advantage by being more active and
        going to the body.

        Round 9 Erislandy Lara

Erislandy Lara landed the better punches, Brewer not getting much effective done
at the times Lara does shut up shop.

I felt Brewer was winning the last round as Lara completely switched off but Lara
managed to nail him with an uppercut in close that dropped him, Lara steamed in
and threw a girl flurry which was largely ineffective imo but the ref (Weekes)
decided to stop the fight, however i did'nt think Brewer was badly hurt and that
he should of definitely been given the opportunity to fight on.

Lara is far to economical with his output although his punches are very accurate, he is
flat footed and cant seem to fight inside either, he got rocked badly in the 4th
and did not impress me because of how many times his workrate
was left wanting in the fight, he made this fight seem competitive because he was not active enough and allowed Brewer to get off
and dictate the pace at times, that said he did land the cleaner punches throughout
        the fight, albeit sporadically.

Brewer actually did a good job of giving Lara different looks and stepping over
after punching, he mainly had success when he got in close and took advantage of
        Lara's inability to fight inside.
I scored the campillo fight the exact same way. One of the worst robberies in the last 10 years. The judges who gave Shumenov the fight should be banned from boxing.

Agree, it was terrible! decision imo. Shumenov showed some balls but he clearly lost that fight. For the judges to have given that to Shumenov they would have to of been scoring shots that were not connecting in certain rounds.

          ESPN

Raymond Serrano vs Ronnie Warrior jr

          Round 1 Raymond Serrano

Clear round for Raymond Serrano who did a good job handling the lefty stance
of Warrior, he used the angles set up his right hands and managed to get that left
hook to the body off which is a punch that is not always utilistzed by some fighters
when facing a lefty, Serrano seems to be able to fight inside to.

          Round 2 Raymond Serrano

Raymond Serrano stayed outside and use angles to set up the right hands and he
landed some good body shots in this round, he seems to like going to the body.

          Round 3 Raymond Serrano

Ronnie Warrior jr did a little by putting more pressure on and letting his hands go
a bit more but i felt Raymond Serrano still used the angles and get off first with
          his fast combo's.

          Round 4 Raymond Serrano

Raymond Serrano offset Warrior with the movement and punched off the angles
to set up his right hands a few of those right hands seem to rock Warrior, Serrano
pressed a little bit went back to Boxing the rest of the round

          Round 5 Raymond Serrano

Again Raymond Serrano used the movemennt and punched
off the angles and landed the right hands, Warrior is punching enough so its
difficult to see how good or bad Serrano's defence/chin might be but by all accounts
in one of his previous wins he was dropped by a guy with 30 losses so maybe Warrior
          should be letting his go.

          Round 6 Raymond Serrano

Raymond Serrano outpunched Warrior inside then went back to outside and
basically did more over the coarse of the round.

          Round 7 Raymond Serrano

Warrior is not letting hands go and he is letting Serrano get off first fight at his own
pace and dictate although Warrior did land a couple of good shots at the end of the
round but still not enough to take the round, Serrano's defence might be a bit suspect
because even though Warrior has not thrown much when he has he has caught
          Serrano clean

          Round 8 Raymond Serrano

Warrior spend this round like he spend the previous which was waiting to counter
and letting Serrano get off first and outpunch him.

Warrior should been applying consistent pressure from the outset but he was too intent on trying
to wait and counter punch, Serrano had time and pace to set up his attack and when
he did attack he did not come in the front door he punched off the angles which made
it more difficult for Warrior to time him coming in. Warrior might not be a pressure
fighter but he still should of abandoned his counter punching tactics as he was never
gonna beat the quicker handed better fighter when it was a slow paced fight.

Serrano showed an ablity to use the angles and that he can fight inside and has a
good body attack. I particularly liked the way he landed the left hook to the body
as many fighters seem to neglect that against a lefty. Serrano's defences did not like
very tight on the rare occasions Warrior did throw and Serrano did not seem to
want to commit to anything when he had Warrior in a little trouble.

            • Jesse Brinkley vs Curtis Stevens

              Round 1 Curtis Stevens

Curtis Stevens landed with virtually every left hook he threw, he came out fast to
take it to Brinkley and landed the clean hard punches.

              Round 2 Curtis Stevens

Closer round where Brinkley got some offense going but i still felt Stevens
              landed the more significant shots.

              Round 3 Jesse Brinkley

Tough rounds to score as not much significant landed but i just felt Brinkley
dictated the pace of the round and go his jab off a bit more, Stevens a little inactive

              Round 4 Jesse Brinkley

Jesse Brinkley dictating with the jab and mixing in the occasional right hand.
Jesse Brinkley is controlling the pace of the fight.

              Round 5 Jesse Brinkley

Stevens landing some clean shots early in the round but Jesse Brinkley came back
and finished stronger as was again dictating the pace.

              Round 6 Jesse Brinkley 10/8

Stevens was winning the round with his power punches untill Jesse Brinkley came
on and nailed him mid round he had Stevens hurt and and was hitting with hard
accurate punches, eventually Stevens dropped to his knee and took a count.

              Round 7 Jesse Brinkley

Jesse Brinkley dictated the action again and the double jab is setting up the right
hand time and time again for Brinkley as Stevens was nailed with a good hard
right hand again toward the end. Stevens was too overconfident and
              has not turned up.

              Round 8 Curtis Stevens
huge left hook landed by Stevens in this round that seemed to rock Brinkley

              Round 9 Curtis Stevens

Was more active this round and landed some solid blows, Stevens digging down
              in this round.

              Round 10 Jesse Brinkley

Steven dug down in this round but Brinkley was more active than in the last and nailed
him with some hard shots and was busy.

              Round 11 Jesse Brinkley

Jesse Brinkley absolutely painting Stevens in the ropes with hard shots toward the
              end, exciting fight.

              Round 12 Jesse Brinkley 10/8

Jesse Brinkley had Stevens hurt again so much so that the ref had to give Stevens
a standing count, Jesse Brinkley was on the verge of taking Stevens out at the end.

I did not do as good a job scoring this fight imo but here is my take on it.

Stevens did not turn up and he looked lethargic in his movements at
times, he underestimated Brinkley and payed the price as Brinkley controlled &
dictated the pace of the fight and landed the jab consistently and followed up
with right hands that had Stevens rocking a couple of times in the fight, infact he almost forced a stoppage in the 12. Entertaining fight it was to.

Stevens is a one dimensional fighter. Brinkley fought well, but a real top 10 168 pound fighter will have his way with Brinkley.

                  Yeah.

I still thought he had enough diversity to beat a Jesse Brinkley but man! Brinkley was painting him with right hands at times and kicking his ass.

I cant see Brinkley going anywhere either.

                  • Antonio Avelar KO8 Wilfredo Vasquez Sr.

Round 1-10-9 Wilfredo Vasquez (Good give and take round, a lot of punches thrown and landed by both men with good fighting on the inside. Even until bear the end of the round where Vasquez seems to hurt Avelar but Avelar covers up well and nothing comes of it. One thing I would like to point out is how Vasquez looks like an exact clone of Edwin Rosario. He looks like him, holds his hands the same way, does that little pose where he leaves his left hand out there after throwing the jab)

Round 2-10-9 Wilfredo Vasquez (Vasquez comes out and takes the initiative, landing some hard hooking rights, slows down in the middle of the round and Avelar rallies back but near the end Vasquez takes over once again and lands some jolting right hands and body shots)

Round 3-10-9 Wilfredo Vasquez (Another close round but Vasquez takes it by using his jab and body shots to greater effect and winning the exchanges with a flush, hard shot. Avelar is making the fight competitive and exciting with his tenacity and toughness but the quality work is being done by Vasquez so far)

Round 4-10-9 Wilfredo Vasquez (Vasquez put on a great display of how to stay in the pocket and run a fighter into punches, Avelar drops his left hand every time there is an exchange and Vasquez nails his with a right each time. Avelar keeps plugging away all the same)

Round 5-Even (AMAZING ROUND, Vasquez comes out and in the first exchange gets dropped hard by a left hook, Avelar comes in to take him out, throws a wild uppercut and gets dropped hard by a right hand, after that I don't think either man missed a punch for the rest of the round. They just stood on the ropes for the rest of the round trading right hand after right hand, only stopping to trade places on the ropes, incredible display of guts by both men)

Round 6-10-9 Antonio Avelar (Another close hard fought round but Avelar came out with renewed vigor and really pressured Vasquez instead of following him like he did earlier in the fight. Vasquez looking sluggish and is being forced to buckle down and trade punches more as well as his right eye closing)

Round 7-10-9 Antonio Avelar (Avelar is really coming alive now, he turned up the pressure in this round and gave Vasquez a beating, Vasquez is returning shots but they are just bouncing off the head of Avelar and not deterring him at all)

Round 8-(Avelar drops the proverbial hammer in this round. Vasquez comes out trying to rally and take the play away from Avelar but to no avail. Avelar as fired up as ever hits him with a big right hand that hurls Vasquez into the ropes and though he gets to his feet he doesn't look like he wants anymore and the ref calls it off with no resistance from Vasquez)

Excellent fight, a very competitive, high contact affair all the way through, Vasquez used his skill early too great avail, got caught in the fifth and put into a dog fight and just couldn't win that kind of fight with Avelar. If I was rating this fight I would give it an 8/10.

                    • Zarate vs. Zamora- "Battle of the Z boys" Shaould have been a title unification bout because they had the titles

Between them they both had great records, must have set some kind of a record for unbeaten knockout percentages in a match
