Nixon could've coasted on the rest of his presidency and gone down as a decent prez but for his tragic flaw of congenital paranoia that created that looney plumbers gang that broke into Dem Headquarters to mine their info. He was already well ahead in the polls before that idiocy, and even won his reelection after the idiocy had been exposed.
I agree with all of the above.

Nixon believed he needed an LBJ (1964) level landslide to get his agenda passed. He had a 50 State strategy going and almost pulled it off.

Even commuting Hoffa's sentence was part of that strategy. A Christmas present to Organized labor. Christmas week 1971. Peeling away just a couple of % points from the ********ic-Labor vote was enough to put him over the top in NY and Penn, States he couldn't carry in 1968.

Too bad he self-destructed. He and Moynihan were going to nationalize our Healthcare system. We wouldn't be having the problem we are having today. Too bad that was lost.

It was still just a manipulation of us.
      Yeah, and Lord knows the
China Nixon dealt with is not the China today. China still had some Chinese values back then. I just give credit at least to the fact that he had a good relationship with China at the time. It may not seem like much nowadays because it would be impossible today lol.

I do believe the Chinese leaders at the time genuinely respected him. That could say a lot of bad things or good things I suppose.

I don't know about legitimize. The cultural revolution was never considered nice. But in Chinese culture it is, was considered an appropriate ethical response to not mention elephants in the middle of a room so to speak.

I just finished arguing with somebody about the nfl halftime show. They were mad about lil wayne not being picked.

My response was, since when we care about the halftime show? Celebrity death match was always the go to.

Awful people with no redeeming value to speak of. Even Nixon, who was an evil crook... Was a great diplomat regarding China lol... The media is giving us absolute crap... Very scary. The message is, "You can be an awful, talentless hack, but if you get media attention and are part of the right groups, you can be a role model! Don't believe us? watch as a CEO wrecks a company, strong arms the board and gets a raise! Yay Muskie! Or the talentless actress who cannot do anything! But her and her re tarded husband will tell you how to raise your kid."
Maybe a little more detail on why you hate Musk so much and how you think his actions have affected you personally.

I have posted quite a bit on Musk and why he is horrible to me. Strong arming share holders, doing a horrible job as CEO, that is a big one. Musk fires people with ten times the talent he has, with no concern at all for the commitment they made to his company, and then, when most CEO's would be fired two times over, is given a raise... He hires smart people, and that is the main reason people think he is so smart. Just a real POS.

I never realised how talented he was. I should have guessed he was talented in many ways. Boxing produces so many alpha males and talented men.

Willie do you really believe that they could have transformed healthcare in america?
I really feel that as history passes and the clock ticks on that Nixon has slowly become more respected by the wider public? Am I wrong?
In the UK many many people hated Thatcher but as the decades have rolled on quite a few have begun to see that she did a lot of good to the UK. Some up north would kill me for saying so such as the families of coal miners.
I am not saying that she has become a hero but she was strong and she did make the UK prosperous and proud again after the terrible 1970's blackouts and tensions.
But do you really believe that those two unlikely bedfellows could have transformed health care across the whole of the USA????? Is it even possible in your country??
The NHS has become impossible to work due to the wastage of funds and the huge growth in our population.
I was just noticing your line about how nixon and Moynihan could have transformed america's healthcare.
Was that EVER really within their abilities?

                      - - Would've been widely respected for getting out of Vietnam, but Dlckie had a paranoia complex exacerbated by his position of power. He was always gonna melt in that position.
