Sherm a hard luck Jamaican knocked him so silly that the ref stopped the fight to rule an NC at the retirement community. For what, a 30K purse?
    • Holyfield vs. Williams was originally scheduled to take place at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena in 2010. The date of the fight was moved from November 5 to November 12 to December 9 before being cancelled on November 17. The first two postponements were due to lagging ticket sales and the lack of a television deal. Olympia Entertainment, which was promoting the fight, said the cancellation was "due to unforeseen circumstance." The fight fight [1]
    • Due to the cut he suffered against Williams, Holyfield's scheduled March 5 fight against Brian Nielsen was postponed until May 7.
    Holyfield looks dreadful against Williams

Evander Holyfield vs. Sherman Williams (poster).jpg
In the main event of an excruciatingly bad pay-per-view -- perhaps the worst ever (for real) -- the 48-year-old Holyfield looked every bit his age. The former four-time heavyweight titleholder is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, but is now so far removed from being a quality fighter it is simply sad to watch. He let a journeyman opponent he once would have crushed without breaking a sweat smack him around with right hands and dominate the first three rounds until the anticlimactic ending of what had been an abysmal night. (Don't even ask about the Ray Charles and Bruce Springsteen imitators singing between fights and the female t****ze artist. Seriously.)

Williams, a 38-year-old native of the Ba***** based in Ft. Pierce, Fla., was fighting for only the third time since 2007 and he had not fought since a loss in October 2009. Yet there he was taking it to Atlanta's worn-out Holyfield, backing him up with right hands. All Holyfield could do was bounce up and down and side to side with little ability to fire a meaningful shot. The fight, originally ticketed to take place in Detroit, had already been postponed multiple times before finally landing at a West ******ia resort, where a black-tie crowd watched with little enthusiasm. It was hard to blame them. It was like watching Willie Mays stumble around in the outfield during his last days with the Mets or listening to Frank Sinatra butcher his classics at the end. Just pathetic.
So... Valuev, due to the goodness of his heart, fought the Bstard maker and... "did not hit him out of pity?"

        - - Niko highly intelligent had always been promoted as a freak show. Before he worked *****’s security that vouches for his IQ and integrity.

He took ring center where he never budged save late in the fight where he herded helpless Field into a corner now pumping elbows in several dozen body shots that were pulled before walking back to ring center.

No matter, lower order anthropoids ain’t ever gonna understand career timelines resulting in Field gettin his license suspended instead of retiring.

I have no doubt that Niko is intelligent. He seemed very well spoken in any interviews. I also would not question his integrity.

I just don't believe any fighter really would lose a fight deliberately out of concern for his opponent.

This is of course a made up story of what Queenie wants to beleive. There isn't a bit of fact to it.

On a tangent, Holyfield and Jones share the distinction of being two of the worst examples of great champions dragging their name through the slurry pit and back again by fighting on long after their abilities had evaporated. Long, long after. Both men appear basically OK as of now, Holyfield at 61 and Jones at 55, and for that they are both very fortunate. Going forward into old age, it's anyone's guess how they'll hold up; bless em'.

I think that a 4/5 ready Douglas gets to push and bump Jones off his game.

Like I note, on AOL we had plenty of disagreements, yet near the end we were as often as not coming together in agreement, ie the collective wisdom bearing fruit.

Fact is Field disappeared from the ratings in 2001 because he had his license suspended because he was running on fumes.

Roy Jones never had his license suspended in these years as one example of another fighter hanging on past his best, and moreover Roy ain't punch drunk and is worth millions and not the sad shadow of Vander forced into bankruptcy career with peanut purses unable to pay his various child support and divorce payments that saw him lose his mansion.

                      Post script:

On September 3, 2021, it was reported that Oscar De La Hoya, who had been slated to headline a Triller PPV show against Vitor Belfort on September 11, had been hospitalized with COVID-19, and that Holyfield would be stepping in for De La Hoya.[48] The event was originally scheduled to take place in California, however, the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction a bout with Holyfield in any capacity–exhibition or professional. The bout was subsequently moved to Florida after the Florida State Athletic Commission agreed to sanction the bout as an exhibition. Holyfield lost via first-round technical knockout.
