  • Evidence of fixing fights

Most boxing fans have heard of the infamous fight fix of Jake Lamotta and Billy Fox, threw the fight to set up the big fight down the road. I think it was mentioned in Raging Bull. But blunt evidence of fighting fixing is very rare, it's hushed up because it's so dangerous (for many reasons). But there are some dots of evidence to connect, as this article shows. https://ringobserver.com/how-the-mob-rigs-fights/

There is the story of Jimmy Braddock losing the title to Joe Louis and then getting a percentage of all of Joe's future title fights. This suggests Braddock sold the belt to Louis as it was more profitable for him to lose than to win. He got his payday vs Joe and all of the future cuts of Joe's fights. So that would suggest Braddock went in the tank for Joe.

Then there was Bruce Seldon going down on a missed punch! Malik Scott did that vs Wilder also. Seldon never fought again after the Tyson 1st round loss and Scott later became Wilder's trainer (reward for the dive?).

Wilder and Scott were already friends at that point. Could have been a fix, but also Malik Scott was always a scared fighter. Did you ever watch his fight with Luis Ortiz? Sure it went the distance, but he was "knocked down" about seven or eight times (2 were legit, the rest he would just fall out of fear)

Braddock got a percentage of all Mike Jacobs future Louis title fights .
Anyone who thinks Braddock went into the tank for Louis needs to watch wrestling instead of boxing.Braddock took a brutal beating.

            No!

Braddock was given 10% of Uncle Mike Jacob's take (not Louis's purses as commonly claimed) for any Louis defense for the next ten years.

Braddock was bought because he screwed over Max Schmeling who had the right to the first shot at Braddock's title based on him defeating Louis.

Making Joe Louis a victim is popular in boxing history, especially when you add a racial claim. (Not that you did.)

Do you think it's normal for a fighter to want to fight one of his friends? Especially a guy like Wilder who talked a lot about putting opponents in a body bag. Two friends fighting = an obvious inside job.

If you believe Jacobs sacrificed his loot for Joe. Highly likely Jacobs ended up making Joe pay for the business deal Jacobs designed. Wonder why they were so afraid of letting Schmeling get that first shot at Braddock?? Makes you wonder if Louis and Jacobs had all the leverage to manipulate Schmeling to take the dive?? With all the political factors involved and how much media hype it got, it can't be ruled out that Schmeling took the dive.

It was the WBC Final Eliminator IIRC. And that was long before Wilder was saying **** like that, or was even really on the map.

I'm just saying, Scott was a scared fighter who was always falling down when a punch got close to him.
