Around '22 was the right time for the fight. '26 was the last chance and the only hindrance to the fight then was Dempsey's side.
    - - What, your toilet clogged up again that exceeds the grasp of your reach?

    1931, what some crusty ol'timer 4 rounder?

Wills quit in 1929 and Dempsey in 1927 after his Tunney rematch. Wills came back against 3 novice fighters while Dempsey came back for a year long series of more than a dozen or so exhibitions across the US to see if he wanted to challenge for a title. He made his $$$ and preferred to develop Baer.

Had he turned full pro instead, he's in the queue with young developing Joe Louis, not ancient Wills.

Told you, the best and biggest fight offer for Dempsey vs Wills was the year after KOing Willard, wealthy Playwright Harry Frazee offered $300 guaranteed with Boston Stadium as Venue, but local politicians killed it. The next year Frazee lined up the new Yankee stadium, but NY pols killed the bout.

No venue = no fight and no decent finances though Dempsey sunk some of his Hollywood $$$ into it...duh.

Neither Dempsey nor Wills can be faulted any more than AJ today can be faulted for light in the loafers Deyonce and Blubber preferring peanuts to fight each other to a King's Ransom that AJ offered.

How about Montreal and Chicago? Dempsey skipped out on both.

Not to mention New York trying everything they could to get him to face Wills. He wouldn't.

        - - When the $$$ was there, even Tex was on board.

Dempsey sunk a lot of $$$ trying to make the fight, the whole reason he went to Hollywood while Kearns was placing Liens on his bank accounts.

It takes a teensie minded person to keep beating on a dead horse for his eternity.

I didn't ask you about Tex.

Did Dempsey skip out on Chicago, Montreal, and New York when there was no opposition to the fight?

Schmeling tried to sue Braddock into the ring but that went nowhere as well.

Then there was, back in the early 1930s, a Philadelphia gangster named Bo Bo Hoff who tried to sue Gene Tunney after Tunney's manger Billy Gibson fordged Tunney's signature and sold 20% of Tunney to the gangstter. Tunney won that case easy as Billy Gibson hid in a sanatorium and a judge ruled him unable to testify do to mental deficiency (punch drunk).

Gibson was released from rehab the moment the case was dismissed.
I believe they settled out of court when Pacquiao issued a subpoena for Floyd's medical records.

              - - No, he KOed JJohnson in Saskatoon for a huge fortune in gold bullion. JJohnson as the loser cleaned up plenty of bullion as well.

Dempsey never skipped out on Montreal or Chicago.

Montreal was a Kearns roost to keep Rickard and Mullins off balance, on a false time-delaying hook.

Chicago couldn't prove they had the money until Dempsey already breached the contract and signed with Rickard and began training for Tunney.

To blame Dempsey is simple minded and shows only a casual understanding of the history.

What does JJohnson and a fantasy fight that was already debunked have to do with this. What grade you in?

Why did the Montreal and Chicago fights vs. Wills fall through? Let's see what you've learned.

Didn't Dempsey claim that he needed more time, upsetting Rickard's team? That's on Dempsey. Trying to claim it was all Kearns when Kearns worked for him is your usual go to. It was Dempsey's side that didn't want it, period.

Chicago did prove they had the money in accordance with what the contract stipulated. I dare you to claim that the money wasn't present exactly when the contract Dempsey signed stipulated it would be. You are blatantly telling lies and you know I can prove you are telling lies.

And who are you to call anyone simpleminded when you got so upset by this that you tried to claim Wills was at fault for the fight not happening, greatly embarrassing yourself because you can't handle the truth that your idol wanted no part of Harry Wills

I have statements from top promoters and even boxing commissioners saying Dempsey wanted no part of the fight. I guess they are simpleminded, while the guy who claims it was really Wills' fault is the smart guy. Made a whole thread claiming he could prove it was Wills fault, and it blew up in his face. You're a joke.

Oh...and didn't you claim before that it was Wills that ran out of the Montreal fight? When I asked you for proof of that, you shut up about it. I wonder why
