Here is one for the smart people in the room: People read this story and marvel at it but miss a point that is perhaps even more bad a s s than Andre's feat of strength regarding his protagonists... Canadians are bad a s s, when I lived in Toronto I saw Canucks walk 4 blocks in the freezing winter to save a nickel on a head of lettuce... a CANADIAN nickel!! Worth about 3 cents at the time? I had Canadian friends who had property in REALLY remote areas that made places like Wyoming look like New York City! And this was Toronto. Montreal has the real Bad A s ses, or so I am told...

Lifting a volkswagen and flipping it with four canucks inside gets a 9 for bad a s sery. With an additional 1/5 point for doing so in the snow 9.5

Driving a Volkswagen, air cooled bug in a Canadian winter? gets a 10. Those things have about as much heat as a frigid lady, have the traction of a bad go cart... You have to really be crazy, crazy enough to pick on a giant, to drive that thing in a Canadian winter!

You were around in the 1920's? You claim to be old, so... If you watch the doc Johnson was broke and needed the money. He would need to fight out of the county. Dempsey suggested it happened. And Johnson tried to make a match. Jack would not lie, would he?

I don't claim to be anything.I was 75 last Tuesday, and celebrated the occasion in La Coupole. Paris

Dempsey never said it happened.,It was a spoof headline that was discredited a long time ago and most serious boxing people know about it.
Johnson was happy to fight Dempsey, but never said it ever happened and it didn't.
In the words of that great President and sterling human being , Donald Trump .FAKE NEWS

Well than, you don't have to watch the doc and learn something. BTW Johnson NEVER commented on it. If you have it, produce the link. Did Jack duck him? I am not sure.

The story originated as the result of an article by Ray Pearson writing in the Chicago Tribune December the 4th 1921. Pearson claimed that on Saturday 3rd of December ,in Saskatoon ,Saskatchewan Canada Dempsey ko'd Johnson in7 rds after being decked himself in the 5th rd.
Only at the very end of the article did Pearson then reveal it was a mythical fight, one of a series he was writing, matching great fighters in their prime against each other and predicting the likely out come.
On Saturday 3rd of December 1921 neither Dempsey or Johnson were in Saskatoon or even in Canada.Dempsey was on the stage in vaudeville, in Seattle that Saturday night.
The Sporting Editor of the Saskatoon Star said " No Dempsey,v Johnson Bout Here Dempsey On Coast,Has Not Been Here Yet."
                    Signed Cameron .Saskatoon Star.
For someone who is so negatively fixated on both Dempsey and Johnson, you are surprisingly ignorant on them!
Johnson did comment on it ,he said he ,"would have beaten Dempsey in jig time if the fight had occurred".
I don't have to watch the documentary because I already knew the truth about the subject,as most serious boxing fans do.
There are numerous articles referring to this mythical bout.Adam Pollack has included several in his 2nd volume of Jack Dempsey.which is highly recommended to boxing fans who prefer truth to FAKE NEWS.

Can we put this (not so) urban legend (using the term very lightly) behind us with some good old fashioned common sense. !921 the year... Many modern highways, the nice Freeway system, Jet liners flying everywhere... Oh wait! Maybe not. So how does one wind up in of all places, Saskatoon? I mean we are not talking about Chicago, New York, or Toronto, Montreal... What would put either man in such a backwater? And in those days going to such a place was not easy. There would have had to be a tremendous paper trail, and there would have to be a logical reason. To at least start with...
