    - - Hear a nursing home his new residence after his substantial decades of being the go to good guy fighter and family man.

After pummeling Ali pillar to post on short notice a week after his last fight, he went dancing with his wife while Ali went to the hospital!

Like Lamotta! God blesses some with the ability to have years after their fighting with good brain intact. I hope George is doing well as he seemed to be last I checked on the intrawebs. We need guys who fought to tell us what they think... It is very important anecdotal information.

Interesting aside: During the mid eighties, when Tyson was thought to be Achilles without the heel... There existed a very special group: Trainers who had been along to see Dempsey ply his trade, all through and on up to Iron Mike. I always listened extra hard when these men gave their opinions about who the greatest fighters were, they had lived through many of the greatest! May Chuvalo be blessed with the same longevity.

No clue how Chuvalo is doing mentally but hope he is well.

It is suprising but Tyson seems quite lucid.

A class act. Good man. Tough as anyone. Honest fighter. I loved when he and Joe did interviews together. George always spoke highly of Smokey Joe.

If fights were 25 rounds George probably would have been an ATG. He already has probably the best chin ever. His punches were mostly arm punches, but hard arm punches. For punishment he was on the same squad as Marciano. He remained clear-headed for a long time after his career. Persevered through great personal tragedies.

Fairly recently, within the last 5 or 6 years, I said to George, "You could probably get ready and win the heavyweight title TODAY!". He looked my in the eye and said, "You're probably right". What a great guy. Even now, he still looks the part.

A tough old bastard too. I remember him saying on Ringside how he didn't like when fights were reduced from 15 rounds to 12 and thought modern fighters were wusses because of it. My kinda guy . Kinda reminded me of that Simpsons episode where Homer becomes a boxer and wins his fights by outlasting his opponents. Except George would, you know, actually hit back and hit pretty hard. I heard he was kinda pissed off when his fight with Foreman was stopped so early. It probably would've been anyway. He was being tagged. I don't think he pulls off the upset like Ali later did.
