I'm not going into this debate. I concede, your balls are tougher than mine. I go straight down or at least bend over and moan on the light taps.
I don't stay up and argue with anyone.
The balls argument is yours to win. I'm just a pussy I guess.

No...I just checked. You did say Wills' people. Doesn't that prove they were in fact willing to fight in places other than New York?Last edited by travestyny; 08-17-2023, 07:33 PM.

It doesn't have Wills in it at all. Check which post you replied to, it was the one about Kearns looking to Mexico and a possible JJ fight.
Maybe you meant to question a different post because I certainly did reference Wills' guys but not there.
In regards to Montreal. There is this weird incident where Kearns offers the Monyreal go and there is a next day acceptance by some guy (I can not remember his name) who is connected to MSG (the pre 1925 Garden so it might be the MSG Bowl). This guy tthentwo days later retracts the offer and says Wills is not available. Which is really strange because Wills' people never seem to be in that conversation.
The post who quoted never says Wills.

Which Montreal proves clearly is not correct, right?
Do you have any proof of anyone saying Wills is unavailable because I've never seen that.
The offer wasn't retracted. Dempsey turned it down. And it didn't make any of the matchmakers happy. Rickard being one of them.Last edited by travestyny; 08-17-2023, 08:13 PM.

I addressed this elsewhere. I'm not sure now if it was to you. Sorry. But did just mention it.
In short it really didn't matter the fight was already off and Kearns was on his way to San Francisco for some other reason I never could find logic in.
It was also around that time Kearns was talking Johnson, Mexico City, and a one million dollar guarantee. More smoke.

And that it was made by someone connected MSG as a promoter not Wills' manager. It was a strange reply and a quick retraction.
I don't remember seeing a Wills reply to Montreal but I will gladly reassess if you got one.
P.S. I never meant to imply Wills wouldn't travel, I'm talking about Farley, Tammany, and the NYSAC wanting him to stay put.
But would like to read a Wills replay.Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 08-17-2023, 08:46 PM.

It was an offer of $350K and involved greater risk for promoters, while Kearns was being made several offers from London and France for $500K and more to rematch Carpentier. Kearns demanded $500K believing a Wills fight would generate well over a million dollars. This again wasn’t “Dempsey” turning down the offer. This was Kearns being a smart business man and knowing the value of his fighter.
The dumb SOB ended up in Shelby Montana. At best, he pulled in, for Dempsey, 220K to 280K.

Now just to be clear, Dempsey doesn't say no to a Wills fight, he says the Montreal date is too soon.
But as I said Dempsey's concerns were irrelevant the fight was DOA.Last edited by Willie Pep 229; 08-17-2023, 08:55 PM.
