Most fans appreciate those who take high risks and try not to leave the fight in the hands of the judges.
It's mostly the same method, unless you are a fighter like Deontay Wilder who is in there mostly just to look for a knockout. Most fighters will tell you they don't look for the knockout but try to take advantage if an opening comes.

Slick fighters content on winning decisions are unfortunately much more common. As a fan, I’d rather watch a Super Bowl that comes down to the wire with a score of 40-37 after an offensive shootout than one that ends in overtime on a field goal and a score of 3-0.
But should fighting style, and level of entertainment value, be a factor when measuring greatness?

        Yes!

Otherwise you need to take Ray Mancini out of the HOF. (Plus others).

The level of opposition that a fighter is dominant against is the key factor imo; easier to look good/dominate mediocre opposition.

I think that goes without saying for the sake of this topic.

I can't think of many better examples than that.
James did that to himself in the Jones fight. Bill told me that during training camp that he was out with Dre and/or Snoop after training.

When he was right, though, he was extremely talented.

And as for greatness, he will receive his accolades much later. Once people study his mechanics in the ring.

I just saw your next post: Would James have beaten Jones if he was right?

Who knows, but it could have been something great in the boxing world.

I don't have any time or consideration for pathetic excuses.

He was schooled and dominated because he was the vastly inferior fighter.

I don't believe that James was inferior, Jones was special though.

And call it how ever you want to, I'm just sharing his trainers thoughts on the fight.

                      Your belief is irrelevant.

They shared the ring for 12 rounds, we have the data. Toney is 10 levels below Jones, perhaps more.
