Dominance as a criteria for greatness? When considering ATG Status primarily?

How often does that happen though? Where a fighter is getting his ass whooped for 11 rounds and lands the dramatic Rocky Balboa Hail Mary punch to win the fight? Slick fighters content on winning decisions are unfortunately much more common. As a fan, I’d rather watch a Super Bowl that comes down to the wire with a score of 40-37 after an offensive shootout than one that ends in overtime on a field goal and a score of 3-0.

While other great fighters went in with the intent on knocking out their opponent and taking the fight to them. One method is low risk-high reward, the other is high risk-high reward. Most fans appreciate those who take high risks and try not to leave the fight in the hands of the judges.billeau2

I can't think of many better examples than that.
When he was right, though, he was extremely talented.
And as for greatness, he will receive his accolades much later. Once people study his mechanics in the ring.
I just saw your next post: Would James have beaten Jones if he was right?
Who knows, but it could have been something great in the boxing world.

He was schooled and dominated because he was the vastly inferior fighter.

And call it how ever you want to, I'm just sharing his trainers thoughts on the fight.

They shared the ring for 12 rounds, we have the data. Toney is 10 levels below Jones, perhaps more.
